**provides meeting, sports and leisure**
**facilities over a 5 acre site for the**
**community of Kirkby-in-Furness. The**
**aims of the organisation are to**
**encourage increased participation in**
**sport and well-being events and**
**activities, to improve the health and well**
**being as well as facilitating community**

1.19|**We have pitches for cricket, football, a**
**MUGA (multi-use games area) with**
**tennis courts, netball courts, a**
**basketball court anda five -a -side**
**football pitch. We have a bowling green,**
**a children’s play area as well as**
**informal recreation space. There are**
**three changing rooms and a function**
**room/kitchen and toilets in the main**
**building.**
**The community centre is open to all**
**residents of the civil parish of Kirkby**
**Ireleth, and is well used by residents**
**and visitors alike for fitness classes, art,**
**local history and social groups as well**
**as private family celebrations.**
**The village school uses the facilities for**
**sports day, PE lessons and as quiet**
**location for SATs tests.**
**The village toddler group (Little Acorns)**
**meet in the hall weekly in term-time.**
**The hall is used as an outreach post**
**office one morning a week, from**
**October to March followed by a soup**
**lunch once a month funded by Kirkby**
**charities. The hall is also used as a**
**polling station when there is an election.**| **The thirty year old childrens playground is increasingly requiring expensive maintenance and the major project for the year has been to raise funds for its replacement. **The community centre is providing has**
**provided a venue for a fell racing event**

**Bee Keeping meetings and church**
**meetings.**

**playground, which will benefit local**
**children and make the hall more**
