Interviews were undertaken for a replacement Trust Secretary and John Ferguson appointed 01/04/2024.
Charity's Objectives:
The objectives of the charity are in the interest of social welfare, to improve the conditions of life of the inhabitants of the area of benefit without distinction of political, religious, or other opinions by the provision and maintenance of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants including use for Meetings, Lectures and Classes and other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation and a recreation ground for use by the inhabitants.

The Parish of Halsall, Lancashire and its neighbourhood.
Receipts for 2023/24 were £26,048 and payments were £25,565.00, giving a net surplus of £482.93.
The Bank balance at 31/03/2024 was £17,943.95 increasing by £482.93 from £17,461.02 at 01/04/2023.
During the year, the Trust was accepted into HMRC's Gift Aid Scheme. A claim for 25% of £648.56 for donations received, to claim £162.14, will be submitted after the year end.
A 'Warm Spaces” initiative was undertaken, and the facilities were opened free of charge to the public for coffee mornings, film events, a Christmas party, and educational events.
A 'Bees and Butterflies' Environmental Group gave a presentation to local children. Optional donations were received for these community events.
The Hall was used for meetings, by dancing classes, keep fit groups, Remembrance Day refreshments, a local history group and for dog training classes, as well as hired for private family social events.
An indoor/outdoor King’s Coronation Event was hosted, and similarly indoor/outdoor Craft Fairs were hosted, as weather permitted.
The indoor/outdoor recreational facilities were used by cricket teams, snooker players, for scouts' storage and by the public.
The Bakehouse café continued to be a popular community hub and the children’s outdoor playground facilities were well used. The cricketers who maintain the playing fields were given an award by the Lancashire Best Kept Village J udges.
Also in the Best Kept Village Competition, the Bakehouse Cafe won an award.
The football pitch drainage was partially undertaken, and further measures are required in anticipation of its use in 2024/25 by a professional football youth training company. Planning permission was obtained for a storage container for the football equipment.
Planning permission was sought for an additional car parking area to be developed to enable simultaneous high volume vehicle usage events to take place. This is ongoing.
Facilities improvements and maintenance included an upgrade to the electrics, a fire equipment siren, an emergency WC alarm, and boundary tree pruning took place. Ground improvement around the snooker Hut was undertaken, as well as routine general maintenance. Extra storage cupboards were introduced, and a gazebo was purchased.
The Trust looks forward to another successful year in 2024/25 and welcomes John Ferguson to his new role as Trust Secretary.
