Re: Explanation for the Absence of Accounts for the Financial Years 2021–2022
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing on behalf of the Trustees of Alkrington Community Association (521007) to explain the absence of the charity's accounts for the financial years covering 2021 and 2022 .
During this period, the charity experienced significant challenges in maintaining its financial records and reporting obligations. A key factor was the resignation of the charity's Treasurer, which resulted in a disruption to the management of the charity's financial affairs. Unfortunately, there was very limited overlap between the outgoing and incoming Treasurer, and no comprehensive handover of financial records, processes, or historical information took place.
The Association was also continuing to deal with the operational difficulties arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many community organisations, our activities, volunteer availability, and administrative capacity were significantly affected. These circumstances created additional challenges in accessing financial information, reconstructing records, and preparing the accounts within the required timescales.
Since the appointment of the new Treasurer, the trustees have been working diligently to identify, recover, and reconcile the relevant financial information. We recognise the importance of meeting our reporting obligations and are committed to bringing our records up to date and ensuring that all future accounts and annual returns are submitted in a timely manner.
The Trustees sincerely apologise for this delay and any inconvenience caused. We appreciate the Charity Commission's understanding of the exceptional circumstances that contributed to this situation and would welcome any guidance or support available to help us complete the outstanding submissions.
