Dear Committee Members of Witton Gilbert Community Association and Residents of the Parish
I am happy to report that our loved and valued Community Centre has come out of the damaging Covid period quite healthy despite the long periods of restrictions. We started to see more and more groups either restart or talk of restarting in the new year. However, if it was not for the Covid and other grants we received our accounts may well have shown a very different picture as our income fell short of our expenditure. This is something that the Committee should be mindful of as well as the consideration that we currently have an unpaid caretaker who devotes numerous hours to the Hall and should this cease we would be faced with costs to replace. We did close the year again with favourable balances but by no means are these substantial and if we were to loose grant funding linked with rising costs our reserves would soon diminish. I would like to thank Durham County Council and the Area Action Partnership for their generous grants to the hall this last year. The Parish Council still support but their grant was delayed until this current financial year. I am hopeful this coming year will see our fundraising commence once again along with many bookings for our hall.
In closing I would like to thank everybody who has assisted me this past year, family, friends, colleagues. the Committee, staff and extra volunteers form a very small team who strive to maintain the Village Hall for all to use – we should all give ourselves a pat on the back.
In closing I hope the Village Hall continues to flourish throughout 2022.
