## **Coxhoe Village Hall Annual Report December 2022**

First of all a massive thank you to the new team of trustees and volunteers who have helped with the many, many improvements carried out to the building in our 90[th] Anniversary year and the week-long celebrations.

A significant amount of our time and reserves was consumed with the installation of a brand new lift and upstairs accessible toilet making our premises fully accessible for the first time. This was a hugely technical engineering job to deliver the lift in the most beneficial location, but also the technically difficult location which affected all but one rooms in the building. We must place on record our thanks to East Durham Rural Corridor AAP, County Durham Community Foundation, EDF windfarms, and our County Councillors for contributing to the significant costs and Mackenzie’s Builders for all of their work. Also to Andy Coppille for redecorating the whole building. This work was transformational of how the whole building feels and has increased the number of people and groups able to use the Village Hall. The disruption was worth it. Come and see…

Our Community Pantry and Food Bank has unfortunately been very well used over the year giving regular support to hundreds of families from Coxhoe and surrounding villages. Thanks once again to East Durham Rural Corridor AAP, Sainsbury’s and County Councillor Maura McKeon without whose financial support this would not have been possible and our amazing team of volunteers.

We are grateful to Coxhoe Parish Council for their £4,000 for their contribution to our running costs. We have been fortunate to have fixed our energy costs until the end of 2023 and avoided any spikes in cost yet. We were delighted to receive a £1000 Warm Spaces grant to help us open up the facility to even more people in need.

We thank all of our user groups for providing such a vast range of activities and services to the hundreds of younger and older people and families who regularly benefit from them each week and help enrich community life in our village and thanks to all of the growing number of volunteers who help deliver them.

Our Monthly Farmers Markets have also been hugely popular, particular thanks To Ali Miers who puts so much effort into organising these and again to that team of volunteers too.

We hope and believe that 2022 has helped make Coxhoe Village Hall a warmer, more welcoming place in our 90[th] Anniversary Year, fit for the 21[st] century and from the comments that we have received it appears so. Our aim for 2023 is to increase the activities and users and help make Coxhoe Village Hall financially sustainable for our community to enjoy for many more years to come.

**Stuart Dunn** Chair of Trustees
