**centred around a variety of Scouting**
**activities that are both indoor and**
**outdoor. It must be noted that during**
**2021, the activities of the group were**
**restricted due to Covid 19, however,**
**many activites were able to be delivered**
**within our safe operating procedures,**
**following risk assessments.**
**The activities range from practical craft**
**and creative ones, through to**
**adventurous ones such as camping,**
**hiking, climbing and taking part in other**
**community events such as**
**Remembrance day.**
**The importance of other activities that**
**relate to children and young people**
**being global citizens, who are**
**resourceful, respectful and resilient are**
**also included in activities delivered by**
**our team of volunteer leaders. There are**
**a range of awards and badges that are**
**part of a development of skills and**
**knowledge that the children and young**
**people are introduced to over a number**
**of years.**
**At any one time, there are around 60**
**children and young people actively**
**engaged in Scouting activities between**
**the ages of 6 and 14 years, with a**
**number of these also going on to**
**continue as older teenagers with our**
**scouting partner organisations. The**
**group welcomes boys, girls and anyone,**
**however they identify.**
**The Scout Hut is made available for**| |||**wider community benefit. Of note is the**
**local community Wirksworth Festival,**
**where the Scout Hut is a venue for**
**artists to display and promote their**
**works; the young people help and serve**
**refreshments and hundreds of people**
**over a weekend can use the facilities.**
**The trustees have had a number of**
**changes including new members x2,**
**with x2 people retiring from positions,**
**including the Treasurer, however, this**
**position is looking to be replaced with**
**one of the new Trustees. With a number**
**of positions remaining available on the**
**trustee board, the group are looking at**
**how to recruit more volunteers into**
**positions and as trustees. With a small**
**yet vibrant community, the pool of local**
**people is relatively limited. Parents are**
**engaged and act as helpers for some of**
**the scouting activities. People are also**
**adjusting to social and community**
**activities being fully available following**
**on from the restrictions of the last 2**
**years.**
**The Charity is in a strong position going**
**forwards however, with growing**
**numbers of young people wanting to**
**join and volunteers as leaders**
**continuing to come forward. The**
**finances are also in a healthy position,**
**aided by government grants due to the**
**impact of Covid19 pandemic. The**
**impact on Covid19 cannot be**
**underestimated in its impact on children**
**and young people socially and so we**
**are pleased to report that many of our**

**Wirksworth, Matlock, in the Derbyshire**

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination.
