The Welfare is still on a sound financial footing due to the due diligence of our Secretarylfreasurer Mrs Susan Hamilton. The Trustees, steward and stewaTde55 and all the staff have worked very hard in this year to help to maintain the Welfare to the high standards that we se¢ so a big thank you to all of them. It has been unfortunate that in our local area a number of licensed premises have had to close. The upside to this is that we have benefitted from it. We have had nearly 200 new members over the last 12 months and that has helped us tremendously. We had the pleasure of opening our Memorial Garden in the summ¢r. in memory of all the members that are no long¢r with us. Many thanks go to the Fishing Club and BroomfEeld College. Thanks also go to Irene Saxton and Alan Reynolds for their help in planting all the flowers. bushes and trees. Also a number of benches have been donated to the Welfare by families that have losi loved ones who were members of th¢ Welfare. I would also like to thank I￿ne , Atan and Colin Priestley for their continued efforts made each year with the displays of plants. flowers and hanging baskets around the Welfare grounds, creating some ple&sanl SU￿Ound1ngs for our members and visitors a]ike. A big thank you also to Garry our Steward for the amazing Christm&8 light display. it gets bigger and brighter each year. Earlier this year it was suggested that we open all day on Sundays and from 4pm play some games of sticky 13 and bingo, this has proved to be a great success. Many thanks go to Sue Fahy for organising this and also to the members who have helped. Our main expenses this year have been new tables and chairs on the front concourse, the entrance to the car park has been re-surface(L the memorial garden, yearly maintenance of the Bowling Green, a new computer for Sue Hamilton and the general maintenance of the building and grounds. All of our indoor games have now returned to norn)al as well as the skittles and Bowls club. The Concert Room bookings and St Jolm building bookings are going very well. All that remains for me to say is a big thank you to all our members and slaff that have helped to keep the Welfare nll]ning over this difficult year and we will continue with our policy of doing everything possible within our powers to ty and enswe the future of the Welfare. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner The Welfare Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to '. - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, - to follow the procedure5 laid down in the general Directions given by the Clwity Cornmission (under se¢tion 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and - to state whether particular matters have come to rny attention. Basis of independent examiner's report My examination w&8 carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charities Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual it¢ms or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit. and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'XDJe and fair" vi¢w and the report is limited to those matters set out in th¢ statement below.
