## **Structure, governance and management**

The charity is governed by a trust deed dated 21st July, 1967 and was registered with the Charity Commission on 16th April, 1969.

The charity is constituted as a trust consisting of three trustees. Trustees are appointed on an ad-hoc basis. All trustees give their time voluntary and receive no remuneration or other benefits.

## **Objectives and activities**

The object of the charity is to advance the mental, physical, and spiritual welfare of the people of Linton and the surrounding area by providing a safe and welcoming meeting place.

In planning our activities for the year, trustee meetings. The focus of our activities continues to be the hire of the village hall for community group activities, performance art, sporting activities, social gatherings, educational events, and celebrations. In addition to support local community health initiatives or public activities such as being used as a polling station.

We welcome all people, regardless of personal background, faith, gender or personal circumstances and we believe that this philosophy of openness to all enriches everyone through the sharing of skills, aptitudes, and life experiences.

## **Main achievements during the year and future plans**

The village hall continued to run its business in line with its objectives. The committee has reported an increase in usage and a range of different activities have been delivered at the hall. We will be seeking to widen participation and encourage a broad range of activities to be delivered at the hall.

In 2024/25 the hall was used as a community vaccination centre, and it is expected this will continue but it is subject to Public Health Policy.

Scheduled repairs and improvements were carried out in 2024/25 including the outside drainage system to improve drainage, and refurbishment of the bar. Also, the installation of a new alarm system and additional safety lighting.

Major repairs have been identified as required for the roofing as it has failed resulting in significant damage to the infrastructure of the roof and ceiling in the hall. Grant applications have been submitted to the National Lottery, Asda Foundation.and South Derbyshire District Council REPF community funding programme. Various fundraising activities have also taken place such as community bingo, and a family fun day.

In July 2025 we were successful in obtaining £18,500 from the National Lottery and had confirmation that SDDC had committed £23,620 to the repair project and £18,450 has been received so far. We are awaiting an outcome from the Asda Foundation.

The charity has a Finance and Procurement Policy in place and will ensure that it is adhered to in respect of reserves.

The Policy allows for restricted funds to be held over for the purposes of the planned refurbishment works and a designated fund to cover ongoing unexpected costs not exceeding 18 months expenditure .
