TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE 2024/25 FINANCIAL YEAR
The year was an extremely positive one for the charity. Further improvements to the hall were made, mainly funded by grants from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Better Derbyshire Dales Fund. These were used for the Outdoor Improvement Project: the old and uneven path and entrance forecourt were replaced with tarmac; the disabled access was improved; new pedestrian and vehicular gates were fitted; and four picnic benches were purchased to encourage use of the garden area for events and private bookings.
In addition, trustees spent funds on improving the indoor and outdoor lighting, enabling safer access and egress, and on additional equipment for the bar and kitchen.
Income from events was at its highest ever, at just over £10,000. Sold out quiz nights and bingo evenings generated surpluses, while events for children were run at cost. Making use of the hall’s licence, the Pop-Up Pubs proved popular. Increasing private hire of the hall was also seen during the year, reflecting the attractiveness of the newly refurbished facilities.
The year saw Charlotte Holdsworth and Richard Reynolds step down as a trustees. Charlotte moved away from the village but during her time as treasurer made substantial and enthusiastic contributions and played a big part in the project to improve the hall. Rob Bowes joined the charity as a trustee and treasurer.
The charity ended the year having produced a small surplus and with more than adequate financial contingency, and is looking forward to another year of substantial income from hire, events and from food and bar sales.
