Welcome from Richard Storey, acting as Group Lead Volunteer. Opening remarks - see slides. (RS) – Numbers have continued to grow with record YP membership. Good to see more Young Leaders (5) now helping deliver scouting.
Our first group camp in recent times! Amazing fun with all sections on the water at Tatton.
Great effort from leaders, especially James Hurrell, for acquiring and building new container for storage and building of store for pioneering poles. Also new mess tents which will allow the entire group to go on camps. Lymm Historic Transport Day provided some great income which helps offset activity costs and increase in membership fees, thanks for those who have contributed. Excess of bacon will be used at future camps! Rich will continue to help with leading the group but there is an urgent need for a new group lead volunteer.

3[rd] Lymm Group Lead Volunteers Report – 2024-5
This AGM brings to the close an amazing part of my life. I took over as Group Lead Volunteer in 2018 and over the years I’ve overseen the group develop and grow with two sections for Beavers and Cubs and overall membership numbers increase. COVID provided several challenges, but we were resilient and continued scouting throughout. A dip in numbers, especially Beavers, this year is disappointing but reflects the current demographic in Lymm with other younger groups (local schools, Lymm and District Round Table) also feeling this. Dropping down to only one Beaver colony is hopefully only a temporary measure and we’re putting out messages to attract more young people into the group.
So, it’s with very mixed emotions to say that this will be my last AGM as Group Lead Volunteer. I gave notice of me standing down 2 years ago and I’m now pleased to state that a replacement has been found and, dependant on District Lead Volunteer approval, Emma will be taking over the role following the AGM. Emma has been heavily involved with cubs so already has enjoyed the fun working in scouting brings and I wish her the best of luck and I will continue to support her in my new role as assistant Beaver Leaders.
Just like buses, you wait a while then two arrive at once! I’m also pleased to announce that Nick Elliott has stepped forward to be the group chair. This too is great news, and Nick brings some great experience in leadership to the group. As with the GLV I wish him well in his new role and will always be available to assist in any matters.
Even though membership has dropped this year the passion from the leaders continues to amaze me. We have given the young people some amazing experiences and I hope this continues under the new leadership. I wish the group every success.

3[rd] Lymm Scout Troop Annual Report 2024-5
The year was an exciting and productive period for 3rd Lymm Scouts. Our group continued to deliver a wide range of activities and experiences for young people, maintaining a stable membership of 22 at the end of the year. This consistency reflects the strong sense of community within the group and the dedication of our leaders and volunteers. Throughout the year focused on developing outdoor skills and leadership qualities among our members - whenever possible our meetings are held outdoors.
Adult volunteer support has grown significantly, with six volunteers now actively involved in running the section. This increase has strengthened our ability to deliver high-quality programs and bring fresh ideas to our meetings. One standout example was Drone Rescue, a creative challenge where scouts were tasked with locating and securing a downed drone in Spud Wood while avoiding enemy capture. This activity combined problem-solving, teamwork, and outdoor navigation skills, and was a huge hit among the scouts. We also note that Marcus, who has served as team leader with great commitment, will be stepping down from the role in September 2026. Planning for a smooth transition will be a priority in the coming months.
Our activities spanned all seasons and offered diverse experiences. In February, we took part in Operation Moonlight, a challenging event that tested the resilience and resourcefulness of our scouts. They successfully completed the course and evaded capture throughout the day, demonstrating teamwork and determination under pressure. June brought one of the year’s most memorable highlights: the Shooting Camp, where scouts had the opportunity to learn and practice shooting both rifles and pistols under expert supervision. This event was not only exciting but also emphasized safety, discipline, and focus.
Another major highlight was our success in the Cheshire Hike. One of our teams achieved first place among Warrington East scouts, a fantastic accomplishment that reflects the hard work, resilience, and teamwork of our young people.

3[rd] Lymm Cub Pack Annual Report 2024-5
Monday Cubs have had a great year! We have had a good mix of sessions with lots of new skills. We have worked on all sorts of new skills, including construction, DIY, cooking and teamwork and we have tried lots of new sports, such as tennis, tag rugby, hockey and fencing. Highlights of our trips out have been visits to Lymm Fire Station, Gauntlet Birds of Prey Centre near Knutsford, Climbing at NorthWest Face in Warrington, Warrington Police Museum, the new Manor Road Tennis Club facility as well as Hikes and an epic bike ride to Altrincham. The Cubs have also supported our local community with a litter pick at Ridgeway Grundy Park and served lots and lots of cake to those attending the Transport Day, raising funds for the Scout Group.
Monday Cubs have earned an impressive number of badges this year, including 6 Chief Scout Silver awards! We have sent 4 Cubs up to Scouts and ended the year with 15 cubs, with some expected to move up from Beavers in the new year.
We didn't get as many camping trips as usual this year, because some were cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, but we are working on plans for next year, including taking the Cubs to the fantastic Chamboree in August 2026!
There has been change in the adult support this year, with Mark and Sam stepping down now that their cubs have moved on. We continue to be supported by Sarah W, Emma and Joel, with Fae joining from Beavers in the autumn term. We also still have our two young leaders, James R & Jacob, who support us week in week out! Thank you to all the team who have made this year so enjoyable!

Wednesday cubs have had a lot of leadership changes in the year. To reduce the huge number of hours Ben spends at Maple Lodge with his children Rich shifted from cubs back to Beavers in the year to allow Ben to move along with his son to cubs. Joel has also moved to Wednesday cubs, again with his son. These have joined Dan and, until recently, Richard Johnson who has stepped back for the time being.
All the changes haven’t stopped any of the fun and as the cubs co-ordinate the events with Monday the events above have also been enjoyed on a Wednesday! There have also been several joint sessions with Monday cubs and Lymm District Brownies.
It was great to have the cubs on the water in the camp at Tatton this year and I hope a lot of them get to experience the wonders of Chamboree next year!

3[rd] Lymm Beaver Colony Annual Report 2024-5
Beavers moved to a Monday night slot in 2024/25, with Ben Carter joining the Leader team in place of Rich Storey, alongside Lianne Dempsey, Fae Garland and Joel White. Bea Gowland and Noah Hopwood have given great support as Young Leaders throughout the year. Notable sessions have included Emergency Aid, a visit from the Bollin Morris Dancers, Camp Cooking run by our Young Leaders, and a Sleepover at Maple Lodge. We were also hosted by the Lymm Fire Station, planted some tomato plants and tried some blind football! Aiden, Louis, Will, Alfie and Berwin all swam up to Cubs with their Chief Scout’s Bronze badge, and we said goodbye to a few other Beavers as the colony moved back to a Thursday evening to allow our Leaders to do their best work.
