Apologies** Mrs Catherine Morris (Co-opted Trustee & Safeguarding Lead), Mr Jonathan Robinson (Grapevine & Goostrey Guild), Mr David Smith (Rose Day), Mr Arthur Lamb (Royal British Legion) and Mrs Shelagh Kenward (standing for election as Trustee). ## **2. Minutes of Previous AGM (24 March 2024)** The Minutes of the AGM held on 24 March 2025 were approved (proposed by Mr Peter Bentham, seconded by Dr Mike Clapp). ## **3. Chairman’s Report** Mr Jason Lynch (Chairman) opened his report by welcoming all attendees and re-iterating that the Goostrey Playing Fields (VHPFF) and Goostrey Village Hall are separate entities, the latter being run by Goostrey Parish Council. He was delighted to report that the Astroturf surface had been completely replaced in July 2025, at a total cost of around £90,000 (including markings for tennis and pickleball, new tennis 2 nets, 5-aside football goals and kick-boarding), funded by a combination of local fund-raising and external Third-Party Grants. The new surface is playing well, despite the wet winter weather. There are now active Clubs for Tennis, Pickleball, Bowls and Table Tennis. Goostrey Friendly Football Club is thriving on a largely “Pay-As-You-Go” basis, and the football pitch is hired for use at weekends by 3 Junior Football Teams based in Holmes Chapel (2 boys, 1 girls). In addition, Sponsorship has been obtained from four local businesses, with boards erected on the Astroturf, Bowling Green and Pavilion. The Management Committee, consisting of the Officers, Pavilion Manager and a representative from each Affiliated Club) has met monthly during the past year and discusses day-to-day issues as well as events and possible future developments. With the funds depleted somewhat by the replacement of the Astroturf, all subscriptions had increased on 1 January 2026 (£30 per adult, £20 Over 60, £20 in Full Time Education, or £50 per household, together with £50 per Affiliated Club Membership (the latter reduced for the Bowls Club which can only operate April to September). Events held during the year were the Charity Football Match in June (which raised £500, a record), an Open Day in September (successful despite the cold and rain) and Goostales (a creative- writing competition for local primary schools (129 entries!). The Report also summarised work carried out at the facilities (much of it by volunteers) together with some ideas being discussed for the future (including possible improvements to the Pavilion). The Chairman closed his report by thanking everyone who had helped to look after, use, enjoy and keep the amazing facilities at Goostrey Playing Fields open for all. He also thanked the Secretary for her support during his first year as Chairman and gave special thanks to the Treasurer who is standing down after 3 years looking after the Trust’s finances. ## **4. Treasurer’s Report** Mr Keith Wood (Treasurer) presented the Accounts for the year ending 31 December 2025 (copies were available for those who had not seen them previously). He explained the difference between Restricted and Unrestricted Funds in the Accounts, with the Restricted Funds being allocated specially toward the replacement of the astroturf. The Accounts were accepted having been signed off by an Independent Examiner. ## **5. Election of Trustees (up to 5)** Nominations had been received from three candidates: - Jason Lynch (proposed by Laura Gerrard, seconded by Rob Kennerley) - Shelagh Kenward (proposed by Janet Johnson, seconded by Carole Cooper) - Don Lawson (proposed by Simon Higginbottom, seconded by Tony Taylor) Each candidate gave a summary of why they wished to become a Trustee speech (in Shelagh Kenward’s absence, this was given on her behalf by Janet Johnson). Voting was conducted individually by a show of hands in favour resulting in all three candidates being elected by a large majority. ## **6.** ## **Any Other Business** 3 - 6.1 Mr Tony Taylor asked what was the purpose of being an Elected Trustee when most of the “hard graft” was done by the Management Committee. The Chairman confirmed that recommendations from this Committee were presented for approval (or not) by the Trustees, all of whom receive copies of all Minutes. He acknowledged that more use should be made of the skills and experience of both Elected and Co-opted Trustees. - 6.2 It was reported that the Methodist Chapel in Goostrey will be closing in the Spring. Three Activity Groups have made enquiries about transferring to the Pavilion. - 6.3 It was pointed out that car parking is becoming an issue at some events and the Chairman confirmed that an increase (by removing the “Hill”) this is under discussion. 5,000| * Items shown at Declared Insurance Valuation In November 2025, we commissioned a Rebuild Valuation Survey from our insurers, Allied Westminster (Insurance Services) Ltd. The above Buildings & Facilities new valuation includes the Pavilion, Bowls Clubhouse & Shelters and Car Parking/Walls. The VHPFF has a financial interest in Goostrey Village Hall. In an agreement with Cheshire County Council, dated June 1985, the contribution was noted as £5,268 which was approximately 2.9% of the cost of construction and professional fees of the new Hall. ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ##
