Bardsea Malt Kiln village hall is managed by members of a Committee of Management - the trustees. Trustees are elected at the AGM or co-opted during the year. In addition the Parochial Church Council and the Parish Council are both able to appoint one trustee. Objectives and activities Objects of the charity set out in its governing document: Bardsea Malt Kiln is to be used for for the purposes of physical and mental training and recreation and social, moral and intellectual development through the medium of reading and recreation rooms, library, lectures, classes, recreations and entertainments or otherwise as may be found expedient for the benefit of the inhabitants residing within a radius of two miles of the hall, without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions. | Main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects: Having had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, the charity has provided a place for children to play and a venue for village socialising. The Malt Kiln Committee has put on some events for the village, including concerts, and it : has hired out the Malt Kiln to: regular activity groups - art, yoga, tai chi and men’s fitness - plus a number of craft workshops; Bardsea residents for parties; the Parish Council for meetings; scout, school and university groups and wedding parties. . Contribution made by volunteers: As well as the countless hours put in by the trustees fulfilling their roles, in 2025 trustees and other members of the village have spent at least 446 hours gardening, painting, cleaning and preparing for and clearing up after events.
