ALSAGER ANIMALS IN NEED

Registered Charity No.519969

TRUSTEES' REPORT FOR 2020

As with most organisations 2020 has been a very difficult and challenging year as a result of the Pandemic. Before the lockdown we were only able to hold three of our monthly coffee mornings. These functions are not only fund-raisers, but a social hub where we maintain such valuable contact and interaction with our supporters. Despite this, we are so thankful that we have not been forgotten by the community and there has continued to be a steady stream of donations, which have helped us through such an awful year. the Financial Statement shows a deficit of almost £5,000. However, as £4,000 of this deficit relates to depreciation of our fixed assets, we have maintained a reasonable cash-flow without digging too deeply into our reserves.

On the animal welfare front we have managed to remain busy and have been able to accommodate most of demands places upon us. We were particularly busy early in the year taking into care 10 dogs and 23 cats. These situations include local people going into care or passing away, so it has been satisfying to have been able to provide such help where it is really needed.

Statistics for the year; we have re-homed 45 dogs and 67 cats, bringing the grand totals since starting in 1987 to date, to 2099 dogs and 2628 cats. In addition, we currently have 11 cats and 4 dogs in our Sanctuary scheme and, as before, the Charity provides full support for those animals in Sanctuary, particularly as the scheme was devised to provide peaceful care for sick and elderly animals who are waiting be fostered long-term or rehomed. As always, it is our policy to provide all necessary care and no dog or cat is ever put to sleep, except when an animal is terminally ill or in great and incurable suffering.

As has become customary at this time, I take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our supporters, helpers and fundraisers for their fantastic efforts. It gives me and the wonderful committee so much encouragement at a time when the work that we do is in such high and increasing demand.

AS EVER, THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH !
