Objectives and Activities
The objects of the charity are to educate the public in the art and science of music, and in particular choral works, by the presentation of concerts and other activities. Membership of the Brecon Singers is open to anyone interested in furthering its objects.
Brecon Singers is a community choir with a membership of around eighty singers, providing the community with an opportunity to sing together, and to learn about choral music. The choir gives a number of public concerts during the year.
Public BeneLit
Above and beyond its weekly rehearsals for the community, the choir gave two concerts, one in St Mary’s Church and one in the Cathedral in Brecon for the beneWit of the public, and also was the guest choir for the Brecon Choir Festival in July.
Volunteers
The trustees and management committee are all unpaid volunteers (with the exception of the Musical Director). A signiWicant proportion of the charity’s funding is also provided by Friends and Patrons and other fundraising activities by the volunteers.
Brecon Singers is very grateful for the support and help of its volunteers, and also its Friends and Patrons, who enable the charity to organise its main activities and therefore meet its objectives.
