Early Years at Rotunda
The Rotunda Nursery and Pre-school has continued lo go from strength to 51Tenglh, providing early years,
education lor 29 children. Th& team have come together over the past year lo provide ¢realive educ21ion81
experiences for our children. Our team have ensured that children are al the centre of everything th81 we do and
plan exciting, ¢hallenging and fun experiences for them to help them learn, develop and grow. The
implemenlalion of Forest School as a core part of the nursery cuiriculum has resulted in Friday Forest Day,
whereby all children Ino matter the weather) spend the day in the Rotunda Community Gardens taking part in
bijgh craft. building tepees and using natural resources in food and drink.
Our curri¢ulum has a strong focus on language due tts our high numbers of childTen who speak English as an
Additional Language, children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and children who have not had
opportunities lo be in language rich environments due to the pandemic and lockdowns. We have been fortunatè
during this period to have gained funding from Liverpool City Council lo gel support and training which has
enabled us lo deveSop our enirironmenl so that il provides communication and language rich experiences and lo
develop our team's ability to extend children's communication and inleracllon skills.
The Rotunda Nursery and pre.school has a highly qualified and experienced leam who work together lo provide
a safe and nurturing environment. We have assigned 'champions and co-ordinators" lo ensure our children are
provided with the best possible start lo their learning journey. This includes a Language Champion, Physical
Health and Nutrition Ci>ordinator, Special Edu¢ational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator, Parent Partnership
Champion, Emotional Hoallh and Well-being Champion and Forest School Co-ordinator. Through these
additiona1 roles, our team wembers have implemented a range of ways lo support children's leaming and

come from a wealth of backgrounds and find ways lo indude and celebrate the different traditions and cultures of
our families within Nursery life.
Our current nursery provision has two age groups across our Iwo settings, and our plans for the ftjlure indude
relocating our nursery into a purpose built facility lo increase occupancy and also lo have all age groups together.
Our future plans will also include a baby unil which is something we don't currently have due lo space. Our
current Pre.school selling does not have free-fiow access lo an outdoor space and so breaks in continuous
provision are necessary lo ensure that children are spending lime outdoors. The Pre-school children access the
communily garden and use the nursery garden bul having a secure purpose built space allowing free-flow
access would benefit the holi51ic development across all areas of leaming as well as support children who rely on
sensory input to access the daily routine and curriculum.
Childcare sufficiency reports show a need lor more nuiseiy places lo meet demand, which is increasing due to
the governmtsnls childcare expansion programme offering funded hours lo children from the age of nine months.
To develop the nursery and our future plans, we have lo Include 811 age groups from babies up until praschool
age lo enable a full and viable earfy years delivery.
Al the present lime, Rotunda are limited lo eleven children in our Pre-sohool building, which is facililaled by two
staff members working on a ratio of 1."9. This means Ihal we have the glaffing capacity lor a further seven
children bul do not have th$ space required lo accommodate these. We can also have eighteen children in our
Nursery and have lo limit the number of existing children transitioning lo Pre-s¢hool al any lime so that we are
still able lo offer nursery spaces lo new families in order lo sustain income from both funded and private places.
Our hope lor the future is that expanding our curfenl provision will offer more places lo more families who want lo

Auditor's responsibilities for the audit of the financial ststements
Our objectives are lo obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial slalemenls as a whole are free from
material misslalemenl, whether due lo fraud or error. and lo issue 8n auditor's report that indudes our opinion.
Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance bul is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance
wth ISAS {UKI will a￿ayS detect a material misstalemenl when il exists. Misstalemenls can arise from fraud or

Irregularities, including fraud, are inslances of non-compliance with laws and regulations. We design proce(Sures in

The extent to whlch the audlt was consldered capable of detecting irreyularitlès, Incluiflng fraud
Our approach lo identifying and assessing the risks ol maleiial misslalemenl in respect of irregularities, including
fraud and non-¢ompli8nce with laws and regulations, was as follows..
the engagement partner ensured that the engagement team collectively had the appropriate competence,
capabilities and skills lo identify or recognise non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations.,

other Inanageimenl,
we foGused on specific laws and regulations which we considered may have a direct material effect on the
financial slalemenls or the operations of the company, including (he Cotllpanies Act 2008, laxalion
legislation and data protection, anti-bribery, employment and health ancl safely legislation.,
we assessed the exlenl of compliance with the laws and regul81ions identified above through making
enquiries of management and inspecting legal Correspondence". and
identified laws and regulations were communicated within the audit team regularSy and the leam remained
alert to InStan￿S of non-compliance throughout the audit.

TO THE MEMBERS OF ROTUNDA LTD.
We assessed the susceptibility of the company's financial slalements to matèrial misslalemenl, including obtaining
an undeislanding of how fraud mighl occur, by..
making enquiries of management as lo where they cc)nsidered there was susceptlbility to fraud, Ihelr
knowledge of actual, suspected and alleged fraud., and
considering the inlernal controls in place lo miligale risks of fraud and non-compliance with laws and
regulations.
To address the risk of fraud through management bias and override of ¢onlrols. we..
performed analytical procedures lo identify any unusual or unexpected relationships.,
lesled journal entries lo identify unusual Iransaclions.,
assessed whether judgemenls and 8ssumptions made in determining the accounllng eslimales were
indicative of potential bias., and
inv6sligaled the rationale behind significant or unusual transactions.
In response to the risk of irregularities and non-¢omplian¢e wlh laws and regulations. we designed procedures
whith included, bul were not limited lo..
agreeing finanaal slalemenl disclosures lo underlying supportino dtscumenlallon.,
reading the minutes of meetings of those d)arged with governance,. and
enquiring of management as lo actual and potential liligalion anad clairns.
There are inherent limitations in our audit procedures described above. The more removed that laws and
regulations are from financial transactions. the less likely it is that we would be¢ome aware of non-compliance.
Auditing standards also limit the audil pro¢edures required lo idenlfy nOn-￿Mplianee wlh laws and regulations to
enquiry of the dire¢lors and other management and the inspection ol regulatory and legal correspondence, if any.
Material misstalemenls that arise due lo fraud can be harder lo dele¢l than thos6 that arise from error as they may
involve deliberate concealment or collusion.
A further description of our responsibilities is available on the Financial Reporting Council's website al.. hllps'.11
www.frc.org.uklaudilorsresponsibilities. This description forms part of our aucsilor's report.
