## **Objectives and Activities:** 

The object of the organisation is to advance the education of the pupils at the school by providing 

and assistance in the provision of facilities not normally provided by the Local Education Authority, for the benefit of the pupils. The PTFA is a non- profit organisation which strives to 

fundraise whilst also building positive relationships with staff and parents and create enjoyable experiences for pupils, families and the local community. 

The PTFA undertake many activities to fundraise for the school, including Christmas Bazaars, Summer Fetes, Easter Breakfasts, second hand uniform sales and discos. 

## **PTFA President’s Report 2025 Simon Manning/Simon Pascoe** 

Another very successful year. Our active PTFA are a real strength of our school, and their constant support and enthusiasm has allowed us to give our children some exciting opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. The teaching staff are very grateful to the PTFA for their support for trips and residentials to enhance the children’s learning and it has allowed us to make these opportunities more affordable for parents. 

## _Funding_ 

Funding from the PTFA has given our children some truly exciting opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Their support has helped make school trips and residentials possible, enriching learning with real-world experiences that spark curiosity and confidence. These opportunities not only bring the curriculum to life but also allow children to develop independence, teamwork, and memories that will last well beyond their time in school. 

There have been many successful fundraising events over the past year which include: The Colour raffle, the Christmas Bazaar, Easter Breakfast, the fete, school discos, sponsored bounce, quiz, circus skills, uniform sales etc. These fundraising events have helped the school community considerably and it helps us with our school vision of flourishing together. 



I would personally like to thank the PTA for their dedication in giving up their time to help with school events throughout the academic year. They help the school by selling refreshments at our open afternoon or at plays, induction evening and Sports Day. 

With school budgets getting tighter, we appreciate the work our PTFA do in allowing us to continue to offer our children a variety of exciting opportunities. When Simon and I show parents around the school, our supportive PTFA is something that we often highlight, and it also helps us portray a real family feel to our school, which I believe is one of our strengths. I look forward to working with you all in this new academic year. 

_Funding opportunities for 2025 – 2026_ 

- IT – our laptops need replacing – if we were to buy 34 new laptops at £250 that would 

- cost £8500. These could be purchased in stages. 

- We would also like to purchase some new storage units to hold the laptops. 

- Climbing wall - £5200 

- Support for enrichment days like the circus skills day. 

## **Chair person’s report Hannah Hall** 

I would like to start by thanking everyone that has supported the PTFA over the past year, be that: committee members, parents and carers, school staff, local businesses and the wider community, without everyone’s backing such great amounts could not be raised for the school, nor could such wide and varied, fun events be run. 

Popular events were the quirky quiz, wreath 

making, school discos, the Summer fete, Christmas bazaar and Easter breakfast. 

The introduction of personalised/class tea towels was well received, along with the colour raffle and sponsored bounce which both surpassed our expectations. 

The regular second hand uniform sales have been a brilliant addition to the calendar helping to provide everyone with the opportunity to purchase affordable uniform and promoting reuse of old garments, this also went hand in hand with the older items being made into memory bears, by a current parent, for the year 6 leavers which went down brilliantly. 



Volunteers were gathered from far and wide to help at events, sometimes with a lot of nagging, but without these slots being filled the events would not succeed. The hard work has yet again paid off as profits from events has meant a range of things could be funded within school, including 10 new iPads, £20 a child funding for school trips (increasing from £15 in previous years) and it has been great this year to have raised enough to put funds towards fun and educational activities, which other school students do not get the opportunity to do, such as the circus skills workshops and a theatre production. 

Lastly, I would like to thank the committee members and school staff again for their continued support, hard work and passion to raise much needed funds for the benefit of the children and the enjoyment of their time at school. I appreciate everyone has other demands on their time and energy and anything that can be put towards this cause is truly appreciated.

## **Treasurers Report Christine Hall** 

I am pleased to present the Treasurer’s Report for the above period, outlining the financial activity and position of the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) of Gorsley Goffs Primary School. 

## **Opening Balance: £13,718.06 Closing Balance: £15,262.16** 

The PTFA organised and supported a number of fundraising initiatives during the reporting period, as well as receiving donations from the Charities Aid Foundation, Easy Fundraising, Roberts Recycling, and grants from local clubs.  The income generated from these totalled over £18,000! Our main events were the Summer Fete, which raised £6,071.44. Our Christmas events raised £3,688.54, and our school Discos a combined total of £2,040.83. 

This year we had some additional events including the colour raffle which raised an incredible £1274, and sponsored bounce which raised £1769.40. 

These events were well attended and received strong support from the school community. The PTFA extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers, staff, and families who contributed their time and resources, and to local companies who continue to support us with raffle prizes, sponsorship or offering their services free of charge. 

During the same period, the PTFA were able to support school with experiences, equipment and supplies totalling £16,162. All expenditures were approved in accordance with PTFA constitution and aligned with the school’s priorities for pupil development and wellbeing. Expenditure includes the 



production of new artwork for the school hall, theatre production, circus skills workshop, sports shed and equipment, makeovers to the pond area and outdoor storage units. Looking ahead, the PTFA is ready to support school with our pre-arranged contributions including £20 per child for trips, Christmas presents and extras, First News, water coolers, leavers hoodies. We are eagerly awaiting any larger projects we can support for the 2025-2026 school year. 

Our calendar is full of planned fundraising activities for the next year including discos, Christmas events and of course our summer Fete. As always we welcome new ideas and volunteers to help make these events a success. 

We are aware of some challenges ahead of us- particularly the new introduction of banking charges which will eat into our profits. However we are in a very strong position entering the next financial year. The financial outcomes of this period reflect the dedication and generosity of our school community. On behalf of the PTFA, I extend heartfelt thanks to all who have supported our efforts which is ultimately for the benefit of all of our children attending Gorsley Goffs Primary School.

## **Auditors Report** 

## **1. Principle Activity of the Charity** 

To raise funds by carrying out events such as fetes, bazaars and family evenings to help children at Gorsley Goffs Primary School. All work is done through volunteer work with no paid employees. 

## **2. Check whether the charity is eligible to have an independent examination** 

I can confirm that Gorsley Goffs PTFA’s income in the year ended 31st August 2025 is in excess of the £25,000 threshold per the Accounting Records on a Receipts and Payments basis, and therefore merits external scrutiny. 

## **3. Check for any conflict of interest that prevents the examiner from carrying out their independent examination** 

I am independent of Gorsley Goffs PTFA charity within this current financial year. Both of my nieces attend Gorsley Goffs Primary School, but I have no close connection or involvement in the day to day affairs of the charity. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and am auditing on a volunteer basis. 

## **4. Plan and Record the independent examination** 

- a) Full management accounts and Trial Balance requested 

- b) Check cash bank accounts and petty cash to accounts 

- c) Checked 5 random invoices and that they match to the accounts and Trial Balance 

- d) Check of cash and future cashflow 

- e) Discussion ref the accounts with PTFA Treasurer 

## **5. Check that accounting records are kept to the required standard and are consistent with the accounting records** 

- a) I can confirm that a full set of records has been kept for all Receipts and Payments. 

- b) I can confirm that the bank account movements and full year balance correspond precisely with the management accounts and Trial Balance. The petty cash also corresponds with the accounts and balances at year end. 

- c) I can confirm the randomly selected invoices reconciled to the accounts 

- d) Future cashflow has been taken into accounts by the PTFA Treasurer to ensure their immediate future Payments due are not greater than their cash balances and safeguard the PTFA’s charity work to the school. 

## **6. Check the reasonableness of the significant estimates and judgments and accounting policies used in accounting for the types of fund held and in the preparation of the accounts** 

I confirm that the PTFA operates on a Receipts and Payment basis so no Accruals nor Prepayments are recorded. The PTFA owns no assets of significance and has no outstanding liabilities. 



## **Payments and Receipts Report** 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Gorsley Goffs PTFA for the year ended 31 August 2025: 


The £1.5k profit is highlighted by an opening balance in September 2024 of £13.72k and a closing balance of £15.26k in August 2025. 

## **Responsibilites and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

Independent examiner’s statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which give me any cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. Accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by s130 of the Act 

2. The accounts do not accord with those records 

3. The accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
