The s¢rvi¢¢ was immediaiely very well used and has allowed many to a¢¢ess tr¢atsn¢nt who would have simply not been able to otherwise. one client has called the service 'life-changing'. The seNice quickly rea¢h¢d ¢apa¢ity and we were successful in our bid for further fundin& towards the end of ihe year. to purchase a second vehicle to expand our service. The vehicles have tren named Derek and Dorothy in memory of the found¢r and inspiration of BASIC. Outdoor exercise and rebabilitalion equipment During 2022 we were able lo continue to transfonn our therapy garden with the installaiion of outdoor exer¢ise and rehabilitation equipment utilising the shelter of our re￿ntlY install¢d ¢anopy io encourage greater use of the garden. Derek Gaskell, sadly passed away ift 2022 having recently retired as a trustee and holding a role as honorary ¢habr. tkrek was the original founder of the chariry in 1986 to suppx)rt the Neuros¢i¢nc¢s at Salford Royal NHS Trusi. The Charity was established after Derek's wife Dorothy. suffered a brain haeM0￿hage and underwent life-saving brdin surgery. In those days there was little offered in terms of rehabililation and the horror of ihis experience prornpted D¢rek to establish a charity.
