Report for AGM HERO, 1 July 2024

Thanks to all Trustees for their support over the year. Especially to Barrie for coping with changing Banks and Joan as Secretary. We have a good team even if we do all wish we were 10 years younger.

I am sorry that Keith decided not to join us but we are fortunate that Rachel has agreed to be a Trustee and I am sure will be of great benefit to the Trust.

We helped Berkswell School financially with their charity events for the elderly and also the Warm Hubs which provide warm places and accommodation. We are also pleased to support The Memories Cafe and you will hear more about these from Treasurer and Sec.

We are building a good relationship with the local Co-op. Thanks to Peter’s initiative and are trying to have the same sort of relationship with Solihull Council in providing benches to encourage elderly to be out and about. This is proving to be more difficult but hopefully will happen.

It is still proving difficult to reach those in real need and I know that churches and other charities find the same problem. Rachel has prepared a short report on some new possibilities which we can discuss later. Thanks to Rachel for this initiative.

As in previous years most requests come from established groups and it seems to be particularly difficult for individuals to ask for help. This has been compounded in recent years by DATA protection etc . But certainly this last year we have reached out to a wider area and thanks are due to Peter and Margie for their work in these areas.

Thanks to you all

Canon Claire Laland, Chairman Heart of England Retirement Organisation
