The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the PUTposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with
the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2023. The trnstees have adopted the provisions of
Accounting and Reporting by Charities- Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)
(effective l January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTWITIES
Objectives and aims
The objectives and aims of the museum aTe to advance the education of the public by '.
(a) Rescuing, restoring and displaying a collection of internal combustion engines of historical or teclmical interest and
explain the development of the internal combustion engine, and
(b) Rescuing, preserving and displaying items relating to the history of Poynton of historical 01 technical interest with
particular emphasis on the local coalmining industry and industrial archaeology.

Our Vision
To establish the foremost collection of early internal combustion technology presented in an educational and
visilor-oriented manner. Provide an organised and fun¢tional operation that will gain broad based support and generate
substantial growth.
Our Mission
l. To collect, preserve, and interpret historically significant and mechanically interesting early stationary internal
combustion engines for the education and enjoyment of everyone.
2. To be a focal point that tells the social and industrial history of PO￿ton. As we are built on the old Anson Colliery
site, there will be a particular emphasis on tlie local coal mining industry.
3. To continue developing as a recognised tourist attraction. impToving the facilities and amenities we offer visitors to
Cheshire.
Overall th¢ Museum has a passive collecting effort directed at filling gaps in the ¢ollection by ac¢epting donations from
private collectors and occasionally other museums. Where engines are known to exist in the National collection (or
wider) we shall approach those museums to obtsin the engine on a long tenn loan. On the occasions when the museum
is contacted about saving specific engin¢s a decision will be taken on a Gase by ¢ase basis about whether the resources of
the museum will be best used to help save that exhibit.
The Museum also maintains a substantial library and archive related lo the objects in the collection and to the internal
ombustion engine in general. Additions will be encouraged and work on indexing material to be undertaken.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Specifie aehievements
Progress on the new display building has gone very well, wxth two large engines now operational for visitors to see.
Three sides to this building are now complete, the floor has been partially concreated. More engines are now undercover
and protected from the weather.
Visitor numbers have increased along with income generated. The Midsummer mingle as always provided a focal point
for ex industry employees to socialise and see the progress made over the last year.
Some of the goals for 2024
To increase the shop spend by visitors by extending the range of goods sold. Push the gift aid side of donations. Increase
local awareness in the area. Increase the archive usage by an extension to the room provided. and have more records
digitised, also find a way to make thern available online.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
The Trustees consider the overall situation to be satisfactory considering the pandemi¢ and agree the business is a going
concern depending upon tlie continued support of the Trustees and volunteers.
It is the policy of the charity to ei)deavour to mainlain the unrestricted fund at a level to meet the unrestricted
expenditure for the following twelve months.
At the balance sheet date, the charity had unrestricted reserves carried fonvard of £267,498 (2022: £261,998).
STRUCTURE, COVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust. and constitutes a limited company, limited by
guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
The board of truslees set out the policy and major decisions and take an active part in the day to day running of the
Museum.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
The board of trustees is constantly looking for persons who would be suitable to broaden the range of l(nowledge and
expertise of the board lo advance the aims and promote the inuseum. The appointment of trustees is by the board as a
new appointment or to fill a casual vacancy.
The training of the new trustees is adapted on an individual basis to their understanding and experience of t￿sleeshIp at
the time of appointment.

I report to the ¢harity trustees on my exarnination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 December 2023.
ResponsRbilities and basis of report
As the chaiity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for
the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act,).
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act
and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as ca￿lled
out under Section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act,). In carying out my examination I have followed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission under Se¢tion 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

I have completed my examination. I confirni that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the
examination giving me cause to believe-
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by Section 386 of the 2006 Act" or

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Tlie financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefjt entity under FRS 102, have been
prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and reporting by Charities: Statements
of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance witl) the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in tlie UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2015),,
Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland, and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost
convention.
Income
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it
is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Tangible fixed assets
The cost of tangible fixed assets includes only expenditure incurred in bringing the assets into working condition
for their intended use. Depreciation is provided at the following annual rdtes in order to allocate the cost of each
asset over its estimated useful life.

RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES
Included within creditors is an interest free loan of £4.000 due to a trustee of the charily (31 sl December 2022
£6,488).
Included within charitable activities there is rental expenditure of £1,300 (31 st December 2022 Nil ). This is
owed to a trustee of the charity who omms the land and the £1,300 remains outstanding and is included within
creditors at 3 1st December 2023.
No rent was incurred in the year ended 3 1st December 2022 as the trustee waived the rental expnense due to
exceptional circumstances regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.
