## **Governance and management**
The charity is operated under the rules of its constitution adopted 12[th] January 1984 and most recently amended 31[st] July 2009.
New trustees fill in an application form, followed by a no obligation invitation to a Meeting with the board of trustees. During this visit, the potential trustee will be asked what he/she can bring to the group, and any special skills which may be useful. Existing trustees can then take a vote on whether to accept the application.
## **Objectives and activities**
The objective of the charity is to promote the welfare of old people and the elderly in Eastwood and district in any manner which is now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable.
## **Public benefit statement**
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit, ‘Charities and Public Benefit’.
## **The charity’s policy on reserves**
Our formal policy on reserves is to keep sufficient money available to cover six months running costs, equivalent to around £24,000. We now keep our reserve fund in an interest bearing account to prevent eroding its value.

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 March 2025 comprising the Income and Expenditure Account, the Statement of Assets and Liabilities and the related notes 1 to 6 set out on page 8.
## **Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and examiner**
The Charity’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The Charity’s Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(1) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act;
- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act; and
- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements;
- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and
- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or
2. to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
