## **Chorley Christian Book Centre Trust – 518002 Annual Report 2024**

The Chorley Christian Book Centre has had another successful year trading. We provide a wide range of resources for Christian people and the churches of Chorley and the wider surrounding areas. We continue to be very grateful for the loyal service and time given by all our volunteers who man the shop each week. They also offer a welcome, a listening ear and support to customers who may also be lonely and come for a chat. We are now able to report that we have 14 volunteers, none of whom receive any payment for the valuable service they give. Four of them were able to attend the Christian Resource Conference held yearly.

The shop itself was in need of some updating and repair, so we are in the process of undertaking some work on our rooms.

The Charity Trustees meet on a regular basis for prayer and oversight of the running of the shop. The bookshop has been able to give £150 per month to help support the work with ex- prisoners, helping them to find a home and work. We have also given small monetary gifts towards fees and travel expenses, to a local Christian gentleman from Pakistan who is undertaking studies in Christian ministry. All churches receive 10% discount on purchases for their own resources. The bookshop is also used free of any charges to small groups such as recently bereaved people who meet together to support each other.

Any left over stock or damaged stock has been donated to Renewal North West and Lapson ( a charity working with blind and disabled people in Malawi)

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF CHORLEY CHRISTIAN BOOK CENTRE TRUST**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Chorley Christian Book Centre Trust for the year ended 31 December 2024.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Trustee's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

- (1) accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

- (2) the accounts do not accord with those records; or

- (3) the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
