Kingstone Sports Association AGM 29 June 2025
Chairman's Report
The chairman's report is an opportunity for me to look back over the past year as review so that the committee can see what we have accomplished. In my view, our committee members should be proud of what we have accomplished and provided the people in the community.
We all are aware that we still need new members to help us maintain and improve the equipment but are struggling with the getting people onboard as many of the people in the local community still assume it is owned by the Parish or Herefordshire Council. We must thank the Parish Council for the financial support we receive from them.
For me the main highlights include:
-
We have maintained and have kept Seven Site open to the public.
-
The new play equipment which has recently been installed.
-
Keeping the most important things repaired with a view to health and safety of the whole site.
-
The additional funding we received to replace the equipment in the small play park.
-
We have an active senior football team and support Fairfield High School as they use the Seven Site as their home pitch.
-
The site is well used for informal recreational activities, and I hope that once we have the funds and work has been completed which we have identified that even more people will enjoy Seven Site.
-
The hedging which was planted which I hope will continue to grow.
I feel we still need to focus on what we do and remember that the playing field is for the community as a whole and we need to try concentrate on maintaining and improving it for the benefit of everyone. We need to get more help and support from the people who use the field on a regular basis.
We need to get the new tractor storage building completed as it will allow us to save almost 50 percent on our fuel cost for mowing the field making sure that that it is a secure building with CCTV.
I feel that we can all be proud of what we have done over the past year. We have a few noncommittee members who have been quietly working away behind the scenes to allow us to make all these things happen, support us whenever we have asked them, and my personal thanks goes to Brian Williams and Garth Bradbury for all they do. Let’s not forget the family members who support us as we take time away from home and family to support the field and to keep things moving forward, so please pass on my special thanks to all your family members who support us through the work you do.
We also need to thank people in the community who helped track down and identify the vandals who damaged equipment on the playing field and the community support Police officers (Hayley and Talley) who pursued the young people and managed to get the young people to admit to the damage they did.
My personal thanks go to Richard Williams, Jimmy Greenly, Michael Williams and former members of the committee who have supported my role as Chairman for over 20 years. We took the committee from having just over £320.00 in the bank to a committee with a stable bank balance which supports the work we want to do. Another personal thank you goes to Jeremy for everything he has completed this year and his valuable knowledge when I had questions around planning, legal matters and just being a sounding board to run things past before they were presented to the committee.
The new members of the KSA support bring a refreshing view which is welcome and appreciated shown by the work we have completed, funds raised and with the struggles and hurdles of obtaining s106 funds which helping to get needed equipment and a secure storage facility for our equipment.
With everything being said it is time for me to step down as chairman due to personal medical reasons and have someone else take the lead and move things forward. I am happy to stay on the committee and offer whatever support I can to the new officers and committee.
I have spoken with Michael Williams who stated that he is happy to stay on as treasurer.
