**Objects:** (A) THE PROTECTION OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND THE RELIEF OF PERSONS SUFFERING FROM SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA WITHIN THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF KIRKLEES BY PROVIDING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES (NOT NORMALLY PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL HEALTH AUTHORITY) FOR SCREENING, TESTING AND TREATING PEOPLE IN CONNECTION WITH SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA AND BY THE PROMOTION OF RESEARCH INTO THE CAUSES, PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA. (B) THE PROVISION, IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE, OF RECREATIONAL FACILITIES FOR PERSONS WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA, WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE.
