The trustees present their r8POrt on the financiai sta18ments of the Trust for the year 8nded 31 Dècember 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in notes lo the
accounts and comply with the charity's governing document. the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Goveming Documpnt
The trust was establish8¢J by a Trust D&ed dated 29th March 1999 and wa5 registered wilh the Charity
Cornmissioner in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.
Appolntment of Trustees
Trustees are appointed in line with the trust deed. at the Annual General Meeting.
Risk Assessment
The trustees review the iisk facing the Trust on a regular basis. They do not consider that there are any
significant risks currendy facing the charity-

The trustees have paid due regard to th8 Charity Cornmission's publ￿ benefit guidance.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Th8 aim in the finanu81 period is to maintsin membership through continued promotion of th8 Club and so
promote the Breed to the benefit of members through affilialion to HUK.
Mission Statement
The objects for which th8 club is established are-_
(A) The promotion of Agrtculture by the engagement, promotion and improvemenl of the breeding of Holstein and
Friesian cattle in the United Kingdom wilh reference lo the County of Cumbria but not confined therelo.
(B) To assist in promoting the charitable objects of Holst&in UK.
<C.> To proTnote sales by Auction under the Rules of the Society
(D) To encourage the keeping of official milk recordings and genetic dats.
{El.To attange educ8tional functions as are considered necessary for the advancernent Df the objectives of the
Club.
(F) To do all such other things as are necessary for the attainm8nt of the Club's objectives.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The'£lub has conts'nuad to maintain a fairty constant18vel of m8mb8rship despile the national trend of reducing
numbers ofdairy farm8rs.
Financially the club has made a surplus in fund5. causing a small increasa in the ov8ralS réserves.

Income received by the trust is invesled by the Iruslees and is available to be used by the trust to further the
common objectives.

along with subscriptions. Outgoing resources have been expended on judging competlllons, social events.

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the financial statements in accordance with
applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting StsrKlards.
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees lo prepare financial slalements for
each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming
resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements. the
trustees are requirèd to..

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that dis¢lose with reasonabb a¢¢ura¢y at
any time the financial position of the charlty and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with
the Charities Acl 2011 as amended by the Charities Act 2022, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations
and the provisions of the trust deed. Th8y are responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence
for taking r8asonable st8ps for the prevention and d8t8Ctton of fraud and oth8r irregularitias.

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2024, which are sel out on pages 6 to 13.
Your attention is to drawn to the fact that the Charity has prepared th8 financial slatemenls in accordance with
Accountlng and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts In accordan¢e with the Financial Roportlng
Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ire18nd (FRS 1021 in preference to the Accounting and Reporting
by Charities: Slatement of Recommended Practice issued on 1 Aprll 2005 which is referred to in the extsnt
règulations but has since been withdrawn.
We undersL9nd that this has been done in order for the accounts to provide a true and fair v18w In accordance
with the Generally Accepted Accounting Practice effeclive for reporting periods beginning on or aft&r 1 January
2019.
Respedlve responsibilitios of trustee5 and examlner
Thg Charty'$ trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trusl88s consider that an audit is
not required for this year under seclion 14412) of the Charities Act 2011 as amend8d by the Charities Act 2022
(the Act) and that an independent examination Is needed.

examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts

and seeking explanations from you as trustees tonceming any SLtch matters. The procedures undertaken do not
provide all the eviden¢e Ihat would b8 required In an audit and consequendy no opinion is given as to whether
the accounts present a 'true and fair vievl and the report is limited to those matters set out in the Statemenl
below.

Thè accounts (financial st81emenls) have been prepared under the historical cost convention with items
recognised at cost or transaction value unless othernise staled in the relevant note{s} to these accounts.
Th6 financial slat8ments have b88n prepar8d in accordanc8 With the second edition of the Charities
Stalemènt of Recommended Practice issued in October 2019. the Flnanclal Reporting Standard applicable
in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland {FRS 102) and the Charitles Act 2011 as amended by the
Charities Act 2022.
The accounts {finanGial ststementsl have been prepared lo givg a 'lrue and fairf view and hav8 departed
from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the extent required to provide a 'tFue
and fair view.. This d6parture has involved folbwing Accounting and Repcffting by Charilies preparing their
accounts in aCcOrdar￿ with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
(FRS 1021 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities:Stalemenl of Re¢ommended Praeknce
effective from 1 April 2005 whith has since been withdrawn.
Basls of proparatlon
The charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially
recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwis8 Stated in the relevant accounting policy
notes.

These financial statements have been prepared on a going concem basis.

Unrestricted income funds are general ￿ndS that are available for use at the trustees, discretion in
furth8rance of Ihe objectives of the charity.
Further details of each fund are disclosed in note 14.
Income and endowmer
Donations are recognised where Ihere is entit18menl, probability of receipt and the amount can be
measured wth suffi¢ienl reliability.
Income from Government and other grants, whelher 'capital' grants or'revenue, grants, is recognised when
the charity has entitlement to the funds, any perfom12nce conditions attached to the grants have been met,
it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can b8 measured réliably and is not deferred.

Investment income is recognised on a receivable basis.

Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation Gommitting the charity to the
expenditure. All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings
that aggregate all costs relaterl to the category.
Fundraising cosls are the costs of trading forfvndraising purposes.
Charitable expenditure comprises those costs inCUr￿d by the chartty in the delivery of ils activities and
Services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly lo such activities and those
costs of an indirecl natu￿ n8cessary to support them.
Support costs
Support cnsls include cenlral functions and havo been allocated to activity cost categories on a basis
consistent with the use of r8sources.
Fixed assets
Indivldual fixed assets cosllng £100 or more ar8 initlally recorded at cost.
Deprociation
Depreciation is provided on tangible fixed assets so as to write off the cost or valuation, less any estimated
residual value, over their expecleé useful economic life as follows..
