Trustees’ Report of the Pontardulais Agricultural and Horticultural Society
Made at the Annual General Meeting, Wednesday 27[th] March 2024
Mr. Rhys Beynon-Thomas reported on behalf of the Trustees following their recent meeting.
He congratulated the Committee, Members and stewards on an exceptional 2023 show. Mr. Alwyn Thomas was thanked for the Treasurer’s Report and on-line banking is now in place with on-line payments to be made for prize money and emailed entrance tickets to trade stands and craft tents meaning we should see a reduction in the cost of postage for 2024.
The Trustees requested for the matured bond to be reinvested adding additional income will come in through the sale of land to the City and County of Swansea for the cycle track once the negotiations are completed.
The grazing or cropping of the Showground was discussed with the Trustees suggesting this be discussed further in a future meeting. It was also felt that handling areas for stock were needed and also a new concreted area for washing stock on show day.
The Trustees recommend that charges remain un-changed for membership with the cost of the catalogue to be raised to £5.
The Trustees nominated Mr. Roy Higgins as an Honorary Life Governor of the Society and he has been informed of this in readiness for this AGM.
Mr. Brian Hamer explained to the meeting that the cycle track will be finished before the annual show. It is a lengthy process but we are awaiting completed paperwork and negotiations are ongoing for the council to buy additional land at the entrance.
