Section D
Achievements and performance
£30,490 WAS RECEIVED FROM DONATIONS AND OTHER FUND
RAISING ACTIIVITIES DURING THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2023.
Summary ofthe main
achievements of the charity
during the year
OVEFIALL, THE LEVEL OF DONATIONS AND OTHER INCOME IS IN
LINE WTH THAT OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR {£26,4131. FUNDRAISING
RECEIPTS CONTINUED TO BE ADVERSLEY AFFECTED AS A
RESULT OF THE ENDURING IMPACT OF THE CORONA VIRUS
PANDEMIC AND ALSO BY NEGATIVE ECONOMIC FACTORS,
PARTICUiARLY RISING GAS AND ELECTRICITY COSTS AND OTHER
INFLATIONARY PRESSURES ON EVERYDAY SPENDING.
LOCKDOWNS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS IN
RECENT YEARS PREVENTED MANY OF OUR NORMALAND SPECIAL
FUNDRAISING PROJECTS FROM TAKING PLACE. THIS YEAR,
HOWEVER, WE WERE ABLE TO ORGANISE A CELEBRITY QUIZ
NIGHT VVHICH RAISED OVER £3.000.
MONIES RECEIVED IN THE CURRENT AND PRIOR YEAR ENABLED
£10,347 OF KEY ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT TO BE PURCHASED IN
202212023 FOR THE NEONATAL UNIT. ITEMS PURCHASED
INCLUDEDA PAEDRIATRIC ENDOSCOPE FOR £8,532 AND £1,815 ON
TWO DIAPHANOSCOPE KITS FOLLOWING CONSULTATION WITH
SENIOR HOSPITAL MANAGERS AND STAFF. £2,034 WAS ALSO
SPENT ON FIXTURES AND FITTINGS FOR A NICU EXPRESSING
ROOM.
LOOKNG AHEAD, FURTHER EXPENDITURE OF APPROXIMATELY
£22,000 IS PLANNED ON A NEW INCUBATOR FOR THE BABY UNIT.
IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, VARIOUS OTHER ITEMS HAVE BEEN
BOUGHT FOR THE UNIT TO IMPROVE FACILITIES ON THE WARD OR
TO CONTRIBUTE TO BABY HEALTH AND VVELL BEING. THESE
INCLUDE COT SHEETS, FLEECE COT BLANKETS, MUSLIN CLOTHS
AND BIBS, ETC.
A NUMBER OF FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN ORGANISED
DURING THE YEAR, THE PROCEEDS FROM WHICH HAVE BEEN
AUGMENTED BY THE SALE OF SUNDRY ITEMS BEARING THE FOBU
LOGO VVHICH WILL HELP PROMOTE THE CHARITY IN THE VVIDER
LOCAL COMMUNITY.

Section E
Financial review
Brief statement of the
charity's policy on reserves
THE FOBU OPERATES VWTH THE INTENTION THAT FUNDS
GENERATED FROM FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES ARE SPENT WITHIN
A REASONABLE PERIOD OF RECEIPT ON KEY EQUIPMENT
SPECIFIED BY THE NEONATAL UNIT. CASH RESERVES ARE
THEREFORE HELD THAT ARE SUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE CERTAINTY
OF FUNDING FOR ONGOING CAPITAL EXPENDITURE AS AND WHEN
REQUIRED BY THE NEONATAL UNIT AND FOR ONGOING RUNNING
EXPENSES.

THE SALE OF GOODS AT LOCAL FETES AND MARKETS CONTINUES

sources of funds (including
any fundraising).,
how expenditure has
supported the key objectives
of the charity.,
investment policy and
objectives including any
ethical investment policy
adopted.
DONATION RECEIPTS VIA JUST GIVING AND SUM UP HAVE AGAIN
BOOSTED INCOME AND IT IS HOPED THAT THESE RECEIPTS WILL
INCREASE VIA AN IMPROVED FOBU WEB SITE AND AN ENHANCED
PROFILE ON SUCH MEDIA PLATFORMS AS FACE BOOK AND
INSTAGF14M.
CASH FUNDS NOT IMMEDIATELY REQUIRED FOR EXPENDITURE IN
THE UNIT ARE CURRENTLY INVESTED USING A LOCAL
INVESTMENT FUND MANAGER TO GENERATE FURTHER INCOME
WHILST AWAITING SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT REQUESTS.
WITH REGARD TO THE FUTURE OUTLOOK IN 202312024 AND
BEYOND, THE OVERALL LEVEL OF DONATIONS AND OTHER
FUNDFUIISING INCOME HAS BEEN MAINTAINED DESPITE A
CHALLENGING ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT. THE RELAXATION OF
soctAL DISTANCING RESTRICTIONS IN PREVIOUS PERIODS IS
NOW REFLECTED BY A RISE IN FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AND A
CORRESPONDING INCREASE IN INCOME RECEIVED.
IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE CHARITY IMLL BE ABLE TO BENEFIT
NOT ONLY FROM DAY TO DAY COLLECTIONS AND AThENDANCE
AT FETES AND OTHER PUBLIC EVENTS BUT ALSO FROM LARGE
SCALE FUND RAISING PROJECTS LIKE THE QUIZ NIGHT REFERRED
TO ABOVE .
ADDITIONALLY, THE CHARITY'S MINIMAL OVERHEADS BASE HAS
ENABLED IT TO RETAIN SATISFACTORY LEVELS OF CASH VVHICH
WILL ENABLE THE CHARITY TO CONTINUE THE FINANCING OF
EQUIPMENT PURCHASES IN 202312024 AND FUTURE PERIODS..
