Section D
Achievements and performance
Summary ofthe main
achievements of the charity
during the year
£26,413 WAS RECEIVED FROM DONATIONS AND OTHER FUND
RAISING ACTIIVITIES DURING THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2022.
OVERALL, THE LEVEL OF DONATIONS AND OTHER INCOME IS IN
LINE WITH THAT OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR 1£24,621} BUT WAS
SIGNIFICANTLY DOWN ON 201912020, PRINCIPALLY AS A RESULT
OF THE IMPACT OF THE CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC. THE
LOCKDOWNS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS
PREVENTED MANY OF OUR NORMAL AND SPECIAL FUNDRAISING
PROJECTS FROM TAKING PLACE. AS A RESULT, THERE WERE NO
ONE TIME EVENTS HELD IN THE CURRENT YEAR SUCH AS THE
MAY BALL AND THE BOLLYWOOD EVENING WHICH IMPACTED
SIGNIFICANTLY ON 2019120 FULL YEAR INCOME.
MONIES RECEIVED IN THE PRIOR YEAR ENABLED £4,357 OF KEY
ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT TO BE PURCHASED IN 202112022 FOR THE
NEONATAL UNIT FOLLOWING CONSULTATION WITH SENIOR
HOSPITAL MANAGERS AND STAFF. £8,387 WAS ALSO SPENT ON
THE DESIGN AND DECORATION OF A BESPOKE BEREAVEMENT
ROOM FOR THE USE OF PARENTS WHO HAVE SADLY LOST
CHILDREN. THE FORGET ME NOT SUITE SUPPORTS AND GIVES
BEREAVED PARENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND PRECIOUS
MOMENTS WITH THEIR CHILD.
NOTHING WAS PURCHASED IN THE CURRENT YEAR BUT £8,532
HAS BEEN SPENT IN 202212023 on a PAEDIATRIC ENDOSCOPE,
TOGETHER WITH THE PURCHASE OF £2,064 ON FIXTURES AND
FITTINGS FOR THE EXPRESSING ROOM. FURTHER EXPENDITURE
OF APPROXIMATELY £22,000 IS PLANNED ON A NEW INCUBATOR
FOR THE BABY UNIT.
IN ADDITION, VARIOUS OTHER ITEMS HAVE BEEN BOUGHT FOR
THE UNIT TO IMPROVE FACILITIES OR TO CONTRIBUTE TO BABY
HEALTH AND WELL BEING INCLUDING COT SHEETS, FLEECE COT
BLANKETS, MUSLIN CLOTHS AND BIBS, ETC.
A NUMBER OF FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN ORGANISED
DURING THE YEAR, THE PROCEEDS FROM WHICH HAVE BEEN
AUGMENTED BY THE SALE OF DIARIES, CALENDARS AND MUGS
BEARING THE FOBU LOGO WHICH WILL HELP PROMOTE THE
CHARITY TO THE WIDER LOCAL COMMUNITY.

Financial review
Brief statement of the
charity's policy on reserves
THE FOBU OPERATES WtTH THE INTENTION THAT FUNDS
GENERATED FROM FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES ARE SPENT WTHIN
A REASONABLE PERIOD OF RECEIPT ON KEY EQUIPMENT
SPECIFIED BY THE NEONATAL UNIT. CASH RESERVES ARE
THEREFORE HELD THAT ARE SUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE
CERTAINTY OF FUNDING FOR ONGOING CAPITAL EXPENDITURE
AS AND WHEN REQUIRED BY THE NEONATAL UNIT AND FOR
ONGOING RUNNING EXPENSES.

investment policy and
objectives including any
ethical investment policy
adopted.
THE SALE OF GOODS AT LOCAL FETES AND MARKETS
CONTINUES TO GENERATE REVENUES VVHICH HELP TO MEET
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE CHARITY AND R41SE ITS PROFILE IN
THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.
DONATION RECEIPTS VIA JUST GIVING, SUM UP, VIRGIN GIVING,
TOTAL GIVING HAVE AGAIN BOOSTED INCOME AND IT IS HOPED
THAT THESE RECEIPTS WILL INCREASE VIA AN IMPROVED FOBU
WEB SITE AND AN ENHANCED PROFILE ON SUCH MEDIA
PLATFORMS AS FACE BOOK AND INSTAGRAM.
CASH FUNDS NOT IMMEDIATELY REQUIRED FOR EXPENDITURE
IN THE UNIT ARE CURRENTLY INVESTED USING A LOCAL
INVESTMENT FUND MANAGER TO GENERATE FURTHER INCOME
WHILST AWAITING SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT REQUESTS.
LOOKING AHEAD INTO 202212023, THE OVERALL LEVEL OF
DONATIONS AND OTHER FUNDRAISING INCOME HAS CONTINUED
TO BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THE COVID PANDEMIC.
HOWEVER, THE RELAXATION OF SOCIAL DISTANCING
RESTRICTIONS HAS SEEN A RISE IN FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES
AND A CORRESPONDING INCREASE IN INCOME RECEIVED. FOR
EXAMPLE, A SPECIAL FUND RAISING QUIZ NIGHT IN OCTOBER
2022 RAISED APPROXIMATELY £4,000. IT IS HOPED THAT THESE
RESTRICTIONS WILL NOT BE REIMPLEMENTED SO THAT THE
CHARITY WILL BE ABLE TO BENEFIT NOT ONLY FROM DAY TO
DAY COLLECTIONS BUT ALSO FROM FURTHER LARGE SCALE
FUND RAISING PROJECTS LIKE THE QUIZ NIGHT REFERRED TO
ABOVE WHICH, IN EARLIER PERIODS, HAVE HAD TO BE
CANCELLED.
DESPITE THE REDUCTIONS IN INCOME ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE
PANDEMIC, THE CHARITY'S MINIMAL OVERHEADS BASE HAS
ENABLED IT TO RETAIN SATISFACTORY LEVELS OF CASH TO
CONTINUE THE FINANCING OF EQUIPMENT PURCHASES IN
202212023 AND BEYOND.
