EAST BIRMINGHAM RENEWAL GROUP TRUST Report of the Accountants
to the trustees of the East Birmingham Renewal Group Trust
on the Accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021.
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the Accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the charities act 1993 and that an independent examination is needed,
It is my responsibility to examine the accounts (under section 43(3)(a) of the act, to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)(b) of the act; and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
My examination was carried out in accordance with general directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention 1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements a) To keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993 act and b) To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act Have not been met; or
- To which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

CHRISTIAN MUSIC MINISITRIES TRUST (CMMT) 2021 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
Full name of charity: Christian Music Ministries Trust (CMMT)
Registered Charity Number: 516643
Address of Charity: 24 Spadesbourne Road
Lickey End Bromsgrove Worcestershire B60 1JP
Trustees: Mr J Chappell (Treasurer) Mr M Green Mrs G Johnson (Chair from March 2021) Mr A B Roberts Mr M Smith (deputy chair) Mr K E Mantle
General Information .
The Trust (formerly called ‘The East Birmingham Renewal Group Trust) became a registered charity in 1984 and its ‘Declaration of Trust’ states that its purpose is to advance the Christian Gospel which governs it. This is achieved in several ways, including the provision of training in evangelism through music, encouragement of worship in local church settings and the performance of musicals written by Roger Jones, principally in the UK but occasionally abroad. This is possible, mainly, through responding to invitations Christian Music Ministries receives.
Financial Matters .
The Trust income has improved somewhat but the number of core mission activities are still down compared with pre-Covid. During 2021 matters have improved to allow more seminars and conferences to resume but the income has not yet returned to 2019 levels. Looking ahead over the next five years, Roger Jones (the Director of Christian Music Ministries) is looking to reduce his itinerant ministry and therefore we do not anticipate a return of the income levels to those of 2019.
Funds during 2021 have been raised through:
-
Donations from individuals including Gift Aid donations as well as donations from individuals without Gift Aid.
-
Donations from churches, where teams from Christian Music Ministries (CMM) have led seminars and conferences on worship (for example, using ‘Worship Works’) and music ministry, including teaching based on the ‘Spirit Works’ book.
-
Donations from churches and other venues who perform Roger Jones Musicals.
-
The Trustees can report that although expenditure in 2021 was greater than the income, we are satisfied that there is sufficient finance available to support the ministry beyond 2022.
The Trust continues to make monthly grants to Roger Jones to support his ministry through Christian Music Ministries. CMM publishes and markets the works of Roger Jones and other Christian artists as music scores, CD’s, DVD’s, downloads via the internet and books. CMM also provides a mail order service to churches, schools and individuals.
The Trustees wish to emphasise that the grant from CMMT to CMM is for ministryrelated aspects of CMM’s work which includes the salaries of Roger Jones, Annie Routley, Jane Price and Sophie Johnstone, but excludes the commercial side of the ministry. This covers salaries for Tim Jones and Mary Jones.
CMM and the Trust send out regular mailings (mainly by email) to approximately 3000 people. The mailings include news of events, prayer letters and appeals for donations to the Trust.
The Trust is GDPR compliant.
A Brief summary of 2021 activities .
The Trustees met three times through the year for business related meetings and discussions about the future. They were also invited to join CMM on their annual weekend retreat (Sat only). In 2021 all Trustees meetings have been via Zoom.
The Trustees continue to monitor the ministry activities of CMM under Roger Jones’ leadership, to ensure that the grants made by the Trust were being used for their
intended purpose. A few CMM activities have been via on-line platforms however Roger Jones and CMM co-workers are continuing to do ‘face-to-face’ events at various locations around the UK.
The Trustees have reviewed the number of Trustees, but again it has not been deemed necessary, for the successful running and operation of CMMT, to extend further the current numbers of Trustees.
Looking ahead .
It is pleasing to note that activities are already planned throughout 2022. Further details of all future events are publicised on the CMM web site at www.cmm.org.uk.
Summary.
The Trustees are committed to ensuring that the original ‘Declaration of Trust’ is upheld. We are happy to report that, in 2021, the declaration of the Christian Gospel through music and ministry has continued to be upheld both in the UK and overseas.
