Trustees Annual Return 2022

Southam Community Church

Year ending 31[st] December 2022

This has been a year where we have started to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have invested in a replacement audio visual system which is now operational and has allowed us to stream the Sunday services as a hybrid solution linking face to face meeting with simultaneously providing internet access on Zoom and Youtube and also to record the service to distribute via email, Facebook and WhatsApp. This has increased the reach and spread of the church. We have continued with regular Zoom based prayer services which we will continue into the foreseeable future as this has proved to be an efficient way to enable the maximum amount of participation.

The Trustees have all remained in place and have been a great encouragement to the church leadership.

James Williams was able to move from Birmingham to Southam in July 2022 and took up a full-time role in September 2022.

We restarted our Wednesday evening bible studies on a face-to-face basis at the church. Other face to face meetings such as the Wednesday afternoon services, parents and tots meeting and services in local residential homes were also resumed during the course of the year.

During 2022 we have continued our on-going support for Nagaland Bible College, World of Worth, Anneth Nkanda in Tanzania and the work of Ebenezer

At the end of a transitional year there has been a real strengthening of faith within the church and the online connections have provided a way to include those who would not necessarily be able to attend in person and also to extend the reach of the church worldwide.

We look forward to God’s blessing on the church in 2023 as we acknowledge God’s direction for the fellowship.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Southam Community Church

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Southam Community Church (the Trust) for the year ended 31[st] December 2022.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
