Chair’s Report September 2022

It is pleasing that the Association has had a busy year and bookings have now returned and are better than pre-covid levels. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work during the last year keeping the Association’s facilities available for the community. However, the next 12 months maybe a difficult period for the Association due to the increasing running costs of the facilities, but I feel the Association is in a strong position to withstand this period.

It would be good to increase the work of the Association but we all know that new members are greatly needed to reduce the workload of the Officers and Committee members who not only work full time but give up their time for the Association. We are in desperate need of a Secretary as Anne has two roles in the organisation and this would ease some of the pressure from her. I would also like to see the re-opening of the Community Café but for this to happen then more volunteers are needed. A catchy name would also go down well! Recafe - RecCafe - Rec-Café!

There are still items in the buildings that require some attention and updating in the not too distant future.

The Association hosted 2 large events during the summer organised by members of the community. The Rawcliffe Carnival and a fun day to raise funds for research into Prostate Cancer. I would like to thank the organisers and volunteers that made both events a great success.

Due to Covid restrictions the Association’s Christmas party for Senior Citizens was again cancelled but the Association decided that the show must go on and it was rearranged and took place at Easter time. I would like to thank the Committee members and Volunteers who made the afternoon a great success

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Rawcliffe Recreation Association

I report on the accounts of the trust for the year ended 31 August 2022 which are set out on the accompanying sheet.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirement of section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiners report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiners statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention :

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

: to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the act : and

: to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements Act

have not been met; or

(2) to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
