Chair’s Report

As we all know the last 20 months have been a challenge for everyone. Hopefully we are now on the road to some sort of ‘normality’.

It is pleasing that bookings are now returning and are very close to pre-covid levels. I would however like to thank everyone for keeping the Association ticking over during this difficult time. During lockdown decoration and improvements were undertaken so that the facilities would be ready when the time came to open up again. I would also like to extend thanks to Ray who keeps not just the football pitches but the periphery in good condition. I did think we would struggle with this following the loss of Bob Winspear but Ray has certainly stepped up to the mark and Bob would approve.

It would be good to increase the work of the Association but we all know that new members are greatly needed to reduce the workload of the Officers and Committee members who not only work full time but give up their time for the Association. We are in desperate need of a Secretary as Anne has two roles in the organisation and this would ease some of the pressure from her.

I would also like to see the re-opening of the Community Café but for this to happen then more volunteers are needed. A catchy name would also go down well! ReCafé!

There are still items in the buildings that require some attention and updating in the not too distant future.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Rawcliffe Recreation Association

I report on the accounts of the trust for the year ended 31 August 2021 which are set out on the accompanying sheet.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirement of section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiners report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiners statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention :

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

: to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the act : and

: to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements Act

have not been met; or

(2) to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
