## **Section C                    Objectives and activities** 

**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

Muslim Welfare Society, established in 1955 to provide prayer facilities for Muslims and support for the local community. Muslim Welfare Society provides religious and educational facilities for the community of Darlaston. The Society also promotes both Islamic and British values within the framework of its activities.

## Maintenance of the Mosque 

The Mosque was constructed in 1986, the Society undertakes maintenance, and to ensure the building both external and internal provide a good environment for patrons to use. 

## Children’s Classes 

Children are taught, how to read Quran, history lessons, develop good morals and on how to develop and maintain a good character to benefit all. Provisions for School Educational Visits

Both staff and Children from local schools visit the Mosque, to support inter-faith learning as part of school curriculum. Bereavement Services 

The Society’s members voluntarily assist, the deceased’s family during bereavement, when required assisting with all aspects of funeral arrangements and support for the family. 

- Proposed New Construction Project 

To enhance the facilities within the premises for the community.  To ensure both young, elderly and those with disabilities needs are met. 1.To extend current Mosque Building 2.Resource Centre 

To promote this project we have started fundraising from the local community. 

## Additional Education provisions 

This will encourage youth and interfaith provisions, also enhancing community cohesion.  Improve mobility access to the premises.

Section D                      Achievements and performance 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

Maintenance of the Mosque General maintenance of the Mosque from wear and tear, this includes minor decoration and cosmetic paint work in the Main Prayer Hall. Internal painting and decoration of walls and ceilings. Heating Maintenance of eco boiler system energy saving system. Lighting Improved Lighting fitments and energy efficient lights indoor and external. LED lighting. 

Gardening External ground work on-site car park with planting was undertaken. Car Park markings for visibility and ease of access. Site Clearance. Carpets 

Due to wear and tear full replacement of Carpet in prayer hall and 1[st] floor including landing. 

## Children’s Classes 

Continuous development of moral and social values within the teaching framework. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we were unable to hold the annual awards ceremony, presenting certificates and vouchers for the dedication and achievements of children.  All classes were reverted to remote learning online. Bereavement Services Funeral facilities were updated and bereavement services were undertaken this year. COVID-19 - Lateral Testing COVID-19 measures were put in place in accordance to the government guidelines.  We promoted lateral flow testing and distributed to the public attending.
