St. John’s Church Ashbourne Financial Report 2023

## **St. John’s Church Ashbourne Financial Report for the twelve months ending 31[st] December 2023**

## **Summary**

The Trust has seen a further increase in rental income compared to last year, particularly for hall bookings, which now account for half of our annual income.

We have spent more on electricity and gas, perhaps reflecting the additional hall bookings, and significantly more on heating oil. We still have a 3-year fixed-rate agreement for gas and electricity, ending in August 2024, but prices have started to reduce so there may be less of an impact when the fixed-rate term ends.

Despite increased spending on upkeep of buildings we have been able to cover all necessary expenditure, including regular payment into our major maintenance fund, and finished the year with no outstanding creditors or debtors. Our contribution to the Church of England Common Fund was reduced to £1,000 this year.

The General Fund shows a small year-end deficit of £91 but this includes a payment of £1,154 for repairs to the church boiler after flooding in the basement. It is expected that this amount will be reclaimed from our insurers, along with the costs of other repairs after water damage, during 2024. The fund value is still healthy at just under £18,000, even though we have spent just over £3,000 on elective projects during the year.

Some changes have been made to accounts –

Our NSI savings bond has been closed, with the balance being paid into the Trust’s current account. Most of the funds in our current account will be moved to the CBF deposit account, where they will earn more interest.

Glynn Bevan was added to the signatories for the current account.
