5. Chairperson’s report :
It's hard to believe that 12 months have passed since I sat here and read out the chairman‘s report in 2023. This is now my 14th as chairman, as this April it will be 15 years since I was first elected. There have been many events and activities going on in 2023, 2 of the biggest are: We were awarded funds from the UK Share Prosperity Fund of over £20,000, allowing us to move forward on many of the projects in the village hall and wider community including: New secure front doors, hall signage, installing a new porch outside car park lighting, new chairs, play equipment heritage and information boards around the village. The aim of the funding was for a 20-month program of activity that at the end of 2023, had only been running for a few months, but we had already completed 3 of these projects and were making progress on the others.
The other Big milestone was the coronation fun on the field, although not directly controlled by the Village Hall committee, it is affiliated with it and uses every resource and personnel on the Village Hall committee and would like to give my thanks to everybody involved in all your hard work in making it a big success. We even managed to keep it dry 🤣
I would like to thank everyone on the committee for your continued support and hope you will continue through 2024
Priorities I would like to look at this year are:
continue to build the success we have with our commercial bookings. This is our main revenue stream and without money, nothing else is possible including the cost of upkeep and running the hall.
The building of community activities and events, even if outside the hall itself, and a reminder that, although the name is Village Hall Committee doesn’t necessarily mean all activities have to be within the 4 walls but in the main community of Cowbit.
