Provide tuition, instruments and music for members totalling 35 people in the Gwent Valleys. Take part in concerts, competitions, local processions, carnivals and other fund raising activities in the local community and more widely.

The band has continued to provide free musical tuition and instruments to its members during the year in an area that is one of the most deprived in Wales. It has been involved in numerous concert and fund raising activities on behalf of other charitable organisations – in particular the Velindre Cancer Centre.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The band was awarded the title of Champion Band of Wales for the second successive year following its success at the Welsh Regional Championship in Swansea on 1 March 2020.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, music making activities ceased for the majority of the year. However a project was entered into with Matt Lucas online to promote the work of the Feed NHS charity.

The band are grateful for the support of the Arts Council and Wales and others for the availability of ongoing grant funding during the period. This has enabled the band to recommence activities as lockdown restrictions have eased in 2021.

Respective The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. responsibilities of The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year trustees and examiner under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
