CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Annual report Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw Village Hall 2020 -21 Because of restrictions due to Covid 19 there has been minimal use of the hall this year. The only groups to use the hall in 2020 were a dance classes and a karate group.
Three ‘face to face’ Committee meetings were also held under very strict conditions.
The hall has been kept ready for immediate use throughout the year with regular cleaning and updating of compliance regulations by the caretaker. The caretaker has been employed for his usual hours throughout the pandemic.
We did take the opportunity whilst the hall was closed to have a complete overhaul of the electrical systems, and updated compliance with fire regulations.
We have received generous grants on a regular basis which have obviously been a lifeline since we have had no other income.
We have had some future bookings from outside hirers for late 2021, presuming they can legally go ahead. However, I suspect the resumption of club meets for our traditional users will be limited, not least because of the age profile.
We have had continued problems with misuse of the carpark but the Parish Council is considering putting in CCTV to help security. Hopefully this will improve things.
We do look forward to fully opening up the hall, and re-establishing its full, and vibrant usage.
