Scholar Green Community Village Hall is a charitable trust, looked after by volunteers

Work completed since the last newsletter : (Jan 2024)

Main Building:

We hope to go ahead with replacing the main hall floor and foundations this summer, following a very generous donation from Mr Ian Cadman who once lived in Wavertree Avenue. He left money in his will for the benefit of the village hall. We are very grateful for this, we would not be in a position to be going ahead with the work at this point without his generosity.

Grants received and used for improvements: Odd Rode Parish Council

The Parish Council gave us £1500 to go towards the new floor, and we are allowed to keep it in reserve until the work is completed. (Parish Council grants usually have to be spent within the year)

Bookings and Activities at the Hall

The Fruit and Produce Show in September 2024 and the December Advent Event were again successful community events. The Art Group held their weekend exhibition in October. And the Mothers Union Christmas Bazaar was a success. There were several Quiz evenings which were well attended and very popular.

Bookings in general are good. The puppy training is to be reinstated in April, on Monday evenings from 6.30 to 7.30, by appointment only, see the Facebook page for more details, or the notice at the entrance to the village hall.

Monday and Friday evenings are available for hire, as well as daytime spaces on some Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays after 11.30am. Weekend bookings continue to be popular for both children’s and family parties and other activities.

We are always looking for volunteers, both at a professional and a practical level.

If you could help in any way, by joining either the Friends Group or the committee, we would be extremely pleased to hear from you. The maintenance of the village hall is a continuous and expensive task; any savings we can make will be used for the improvement of the hall and helps to keep the hire costs down.

The hall is managed by volunteers and we need more of them to share the tasks.

The committee is extremely grateful to all who help at the village hall in whatever capacity, whether doing jobs or helping at the various volunteer led activities. The committee needs to know what the users of the hall want from the hall. Are you happy with the way it is run? If not, we need you to tell us. Contact your group representative or any committee member, their details are at the end of this newsletter.

If you are considering a family celebration or get together, the hall is available at weekends and during the daytime most days.

To hire the hall, which is available at modest rates, please contact any committee member or find the booking details on the website, www.scholargreenvillagehall.co.uk where you can download a booking from, or email sgvh.info@gmail.com or find us on Facebook at Scholar Green Village Hall
