The progTamme of events was all decided for the year and we dKI Tnanage to run a Fw5t Aid course, a gardening event, k)oking at Colour thrcsughout the Year. Then tr) compliment your garden we ran a workshop demonstrdtsng how lo make a garden willow obeltsk. There were tsyo other workshops. a felted Jac* Rabbit Workshop and we leamt how lo make Dorsel buttons. The publ￿ Affairs Comm¥ttee hekl a very successftjl Intemational Day relating lo Scotland and the Scottish Isles. In February many of us attended 'Yorkshire Reunited,, a Se¥vi¢e of Thanksgiving in York. In addrtion, the Federation Choir enjoyed two performances, Saturday FebTuary 8th at Sl Leonards Church Burton Leonard, then on Saturday 7th March at Ripon Cathedral. Fort¥Jnatety. the WlaLking Nelball groups were stll meeltng in Harrogale and Knaresborough. Then the pandemic Struck, and we went into total lockdown in Mar¢h. Looking back, it was amazing how the Trustees jumped into action and pl¥ed the existing Pfogramme on hold and set about ensuring our Federation would survNe this terrible virus. ￿ knv4V ct)mMunKath￿ was t￿ key to success during any disaster and to ensure we kept our members up to date we launched our waty update. Finance was another key ￿n￿m. and the focus has never left this area ofthe Trustees Obligat￿$. We ￿nCentrated on our Governance costs and made changes to reduce these on 8 ￿Mianent basis. Al services that we could live wrthoul were cancelled for the foreseeable fijture, grant applulions were made to every organisation we kn￿ of and the staff were instructed to work from home, and we took advantage of the Government furtough scherrE. The decisKJn was made to make the cleaner redundant as it did not make financial sense to continue to employ, as the office wa5 cthed and wrthout knowing for how long, this was a no-win situation. Our grant app1Th￿n$ were very SU￿$$fUl and continue to be so and have Certain￿ SUF)POrted our objective to remain sdvenL The Federation Secretary requested redundancy, arKI this was executed in Janltary 2021. Wthout doubt the fudough scheme was a massNe support lo the Federatb)n but on¢e the scheme formal changed, she fem she could not sustain the reduction in salary. The deasion to agree to this was not taken lightty but the benefits are we can now review the number of hours Tequired of the office staff in the fUbj￿ whKh will allow for a considerable saving going forward. The Finants Secretary re￿gned in October. This meant we no longer had to cover her wages. The Tfustees have stepped up to the pLqte and taken on the work theMSe￿e5. working from home and holding Z¢)om meetings. Committees have done the same and expect they will conb.nue to do so as it certainty has ils nefils. We held our 2020 Annual Meeting via Zocffi and webxffied 42 Members. As a Charity we Tety on fund faising to generate irtcome and without bwng able to attend the Great Yorkshire Show or run any eventslworkshops we are very limited. in fact e4)mpletety devoid of any such aCtNI1￿$. We have run Zoom presentations which sadty have not generated as much income as we hoped which is Probably a result of the competib"on, we f&e from t)enman Z(￿rn events. There is s<)me 0)n￿rn that sow* membern m¥y decide not to sign up to their Wls again due to the lack of a programme in existen￿. However, the Trustees have met to p￿n some events On￿ rt is safe to do so. NFWI did carry out some research in acknowledgement of the posstjilty of member5 not returning and the Flexib Subscription initiative was launched. Institules have the opb.on of not charging their ¥hare of the subscriptions, in effect, halving the cost, we wait to see what wnpact that has generated.
