Structure, Governance and Management

Type of Charity Governance and Constitution : Edenthorpe Community Centre Association is an unincorporated association governed by a constitution. The constitution was adopted on 10" May 1982 and amended on 23" June 2014.

hs Objectives and Activities

Summary of the Objects of the Charity:

The activities of the charity and the income it generates are applied for the purposes of operating, promoting and maintaining a community centre for the use of the inhabitants of Edenthorpe and the surrounding areas, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, nationality, race or political, religious or other opinions. The use of the facility will include meetings, public information

sessions, classes and other forms of recreation and leisure time activities in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

Summary of main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects:

Providing a safe, friendly, attractive and useful community venue, which supports many community activities including entertainment, leisure and educational activities, room hire for parties, celebrations and meetings. The centre also provides a place where members of the local community can meet socially and provides opportunities for activities which actively encourage such interaction and participation.

At all times these activities are undertaken with due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity ' Commission on public benefit.

Additional Details

Edenthorpe Community Centre Association has a small but dedicated group of volunteers who oversee and contribute to the management and operation of the centre. Their duties include: General Administration

Publicity

Room set up assistance

Assisting with building security responsibilities

Assisting with the maintenance, upkeep and high standard of cleanliness

D. Achievements and Performance

The Centre continues to be a valuable local resource which is being used by many people from our local communities. During 2024/2025 we undertook some significant building improvement/ renovations, most notably the complete refurbishment of both the male and female toilets and the creation of a small meeting room from the old female changing room / storeroom. In addition we have completed the replacement of the suspended ceilings in the kitchen, meeting room, foyer and corridor and replaced the flooring in the meeting room. We continue to receive very positive feedback from all those that use the Centre and we are optimistic about the long term future.

Financial Review

Policy on Reserves

The reserves held by the charity are all unrestricted funds. These funds are held for the purposes of ensuring the availability of sufficient funds in order to be able to fulfil the charities responsibilities for the maintenance of the community centre. In particular, the larger scale facility repairs and renewal and the replacement of fixtures, fittings and equipment and other unforeseen expenditure that may occur, that it would not be possible to fund from the annual income generated by the centre.
