Trustees' Annual Report

The Trustees of The Cheshire County Lawn Tennis Association have pleasure in presenting their report and accounts for the year ended 30th September 2020, and can confirm that the accounts comply with statutory requirements, the governing Trust Deed of 9th February 1983.

Legal Status

The organisation is a registered charity, registered with with the Charity Commissioners number 513598.

Objectives

The charity is registered under the headings of Education and Training, and also Amateur Sport, and its aim is to help children and young people in Cheshire in the sport of Tennis.

During the year, the Trustees made grants to individuals and to the Cheshire County LTA.

In making such grants, the Trustees had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commissioners on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

During the year, the Trustees generated income net of fund raising costs of £27,221. A total of £107,002 was expended on grants to individual juniors to help them progress in the game of tennis and to the Junior Tennis Programme of the Cheshire County LTA which has a policy of outreach to schools, public playing areas and a programme of open Junior competition across the County.

There was a deficit of Income over Expenditure in the year of £79,781 (2019, a surplus of £74,657)

The Trust holds a portfolio of investments valued at £147,661 at 30.09.20. In addition there are cash reserves of £18,821

It is Charity's policy to hold these reserves as investments generating income and for the income in each year to be spent on the objects of the Charity. There are no restricted funds held by the Charity.

The Youth Trust works closely with the Cheshire County LTA. At least one Trustee is actively involved in the running of the County organisation, and the County organisation provides the Youth Trust with access to its activities and its aspirations.

Review of Risks

The Trustees have reviewed all major risks the charity might be exposed to and are satisfied that the Charity has systems in place to mitigate those risks.
