The Community Centre continues to be well used by both our regular users and many private bookings, for example, parties, markets and local churches. Our regular users are all still with us and include Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Taekwondo, Model Aeroplane Fliers and Slimming World. These are users during term time only along with Badminton on Wednesdays and Saturdays every week of the year. A Bounce to Beats exercise class is using the Centre on Monday evenings.

Building wise we have had all our yearly safety checks done in the last few months.
The roof was certainly showing signs of age and leaking a great deal.This has been recovered during the later months of 2024 with the contractors being from Melton Mowbray. A fairly local company called Stace and also a family business. Who were excellent throughout the ongoing works. The whole project was overseen by Duncan Brown of Richard Morris Associates, a Derby Company. We did encounter one problem that before the new sheets were fitted to the new struts, we had one of those really devastating rainfalls and the meeting room ceiling was damaged. Thanks to a legacy from the late Cllr Helena Chapman and also top up grants we were able to get the works done and this means the Centre meets the latest health and safety standards.
Time for thanks, firstly to the Parish Council for their help and support throughout the year; it does help to have two able members on our committee. Thank you to the Anne Powtrell Trust, and Erewash Borough Council for their grants when they were indeed needed badly.
A special thank you to Mr. David Thacker for all his hard work over the many years. He is retiring from the Committee, and I know I share the Management and mine appreciation for the years served.
To our Centre Committee and others many thanks for all your support and hard work, dedication and support this year. Here’s hoping this next year will be fruitful and good for us all.
