the local community by working in partnership
with all relevant interest groups, voluntary
organizatons, local council, statutory
authorites and individuals. The Management
Commitee seeks to provide for improvement
in the local environs for an involved and valued
community.|

1.19|West Hallam has a populaton of just under
6,000, 72% of which are under the age of 65.
We present and maintain the largest
community space and only indoor sports
facility in the Village. This facilitates increased
physical actvity, reduced isolaton, the building
of relatonships between people of all ages and
the provision of an afordable space. We
further support actvites for young people by
ofering discounted rates to groups working
with young people so that partcipaton is
accessible to all.
There is no other comparable building and
space within our community to accommodate
such a range of groups and actvites. It is a safe
space for people to meet and take part in
various actvites with likeminded people.
We have a number of regular users –
Community Pre-School, Rainbows, Guides,
Brownies, Youth Club (Minors), Slimming
World, Bounce to Beat, Flying Club, Badminton
and Taekwondo. In additon we have a large
number of casual users for partes, one-of
events and sportngactvites.|

commitee made up entrely of volunteers who
meet regularly and work together. Each
commitee member has a role to play and
knows what is expected of them. This makes a
huge diference to the Community Centre as
organisaton is key at such a busy recreatonal
and educatonal facility.|

proporton of tme over the year. Our regular
users have increased and we have contnued to
be a popular venue for partes and events. We
have a proactve Booking Secretary who has
made a big contributon to these
achievements. The building is now 40 years old
so there have been a number of challenges
with its on-going maintenance. The building
being in a good state of repair is essental to
retain our users. We received a legacy from
Helena Chapman who was a Parish Councillor
and supporter of the Centre. This enabled us to
pay for a building survey to be carried out and
put together a schedule of repairs and
maintenance. The main item is the
replacement of the roof which leaks and this
work will be carried out in 2024.
The Centre staying open and accessible helps
bring together people of all ages from the local
community,bringingmanybenefts.|
