Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of 24[th] Burton upon Trent/1[st] Rolleston Scout Group

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31[st] March 2024 which are set out on pages 1 to 3

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Notes

During the period March 2023 to March 2024 Rolleston Scout Group continued to make scheduled repayments to District Scout Group for the loan which part funded the extension to the HQ. The last step in the HQ improvement - a large canopy was completed in this period to provide a large undercover activity area, which concludes the main capital expenditure

This was made possible through the continued success of three key fundraising events (Carnival, Rollestonbury and Fireworks night) and rental of the main hall as a community group meeting place when not in use for Scouting.

The purpose of the HQ extension is being fulfilled by making it possible for more than 1 Beaver, Cub, Scout or Explorer Scouts meeting at the same time to reduce waitlists and welcome more members to enjoy a high quality Scouting

i

The financial sustainability of the group is maintained with a minimum bank balance to be held of £50,000 and continued efforts to raise funds through a broad base of sources: renting out the msin hall, continue the large fundraising events and use of the activity field for Caravan Club.

The accounts comprising the income and expenditure statement and the statement of assets and liabilities were ratified by the trustees and signed on their behalf.

Approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf:
