I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31[st] March 2022 which are set out on pages 1 to 3
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
-
accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Notes
During the period March 2021 to March 2022 Rolleton Scout Group saw completion of the extension to the HQ building which was funded from a combination of reserve from historic fundraising, VIP programme and a loan from District.
The vision is to repay the loan through a mix of future fundraising events and activities. This will represent a sustainable income placing Scouting at the degree of the community from facilitating community groups and organisations with a meeting space in a semi rural setting where such facilities are rare.
Our membership remains strong and is growing with 178 young people now participating in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and a further 40 adults involved in capacities including leaders and Executive Committee. Our waiting list remains healthy and as we grow sections and recruit leaders we plan to open additional meeting nights to accommodate demand for places with the newly extended HQ building.
Following a successful Fireworks Night Nov 21 and the opening up of venues as Covid restrictions ease we are actively planning a range of fundraising events which have proven successful in the past at raising £25-£35k in a year. It is our hope we can resume these activities alongside meeting room rental and caravan club rental to continue to make Rolleston Scout Group accessible to all and to provide the adventure in Scouting every child deserves.
Rolleston Scouts will maintain financial prudence by retaining a minimum reserve of £25k which is sufficient to cover a full years operating cost to protect the group from any limitation in running fundraising events while enabling scouting activities to continue unaffected.
