Structure• governance and management
The Society is adminlstered by the Executive Committee which consists of four elected officers (Chairperson, Vlce
Chairperson, General Secretary and Treasurer) and two Branch Trustee representatives from each Branch. Branch
Trustees are elected at the Branch Annual General Meetlng. The Society Officers are elected at the Annual General
Meetlng. The Executive Committee meets a mlnlmum offour tlmes a year. Five members shall form è quorum. The
Annual General Meetin8 is held in May. The society may elect a President who shall be an ex-officlo member of the
Commlttee.

of genealogy, heraldry, family history and local history in the 'Area'

The Society shall seek and maintsin its Charitable status as a Chartty recognised by the Charity Commissioners.
Achievements and Performance
The income from membership subscriptions was £17.771 Iprevious year £15,667), an increase of £2,104. This IS
partly due to an increase in membership subscription rate5, however the number of members did increase by 27.
Sales of publications and journals was £5,865 {previous year £4.505), an increase of £1,360. Interest earned from
monies held in the CCLA COIF Charities Dep051t Fund was £846 Iprevious year £1801. Gift ald totalled £2,070
(previous year £1,662). Total income from all sources was £28,875 Iprevlous year £25,902) an Increase of £2m973
The main expenditure included- production of the bi-annual journal £2,761 {previous year £2,296) an increase of
£465; journal postage £3,999 (previous year £2,967) an increase of £1,302,. rentsl costs of our research room and
offices at the Caernarfon Library £2.632 Iprevlous year £2,169) an increase of £463- rental costs of our storage room
and shared office at Yr Aelwyd £976 Iprevlous year £9041 an increase of £72,. V￿bsite licences and maintenance £829

£540 Iprevious year £2451 an Increase of £295, however lockdowns had an impart on face to face meetings the
previous year due to lockdowns.
The Society hired a double-stall on the National Eisteddfod field whlch was held in Boduan, Gwynedd In August,
2023. The aim was to promote the Society. boost membership and sales. Total total expendlture amounted to
£4,508, however the cost was offset by almost ha￿ due to an award of £2,IKiO from "Cronfa Elw Park Jones" I'Park
Jones Fund"). The Society benefitted from increased membershlp and sales and greater publlc awareness of what
we as a Society can provlde in terms of 8enealo8ical research.
The trustees and offlcers of the Society are always lookin8 at ways of reducln8 Costs. The cost of posta8e has
increased considerably during recent tlmes and. following a trlal period. it was declded to use a mailin8 System called
'Mailchlmp' to inform members of upcoming meetings, lectures. projects and other newsworthy items. The annual
cost of Mailchimp for 2023 was £267. We have found Mailchimp to be a very useful addition to our webslte and
facebook.
Projects- It has been an extremely busy 12 months completlng prolects in time for the National Eisteddfod as well as
generating enough publications for sales orders and keeping on top of sortin8 all our resources both in paper and
dlgStal formats. An appeal for help will be made for any member who could assist and support the temporary Project's
officer, as this officer is undertaking other roles within the Society. Recording memorial inscrip￿onS at Gorffwysfa
Llanllyfni, St Rhedyw and Brynaerau Coetmor ICI, Tln y Groes, Caerhun and Trefor were completed over the last 12
months w¢th many more now neoringcompletion, or inthe pipelineto begin. oncethe weather improves. Thesoclety
has a150 been working on joint ventures with other local history societies. one being Tanysgrafell YGA, in Uandegai.
We will continue to raise awareness of the Society through our website, facebook and newsletters and seek addltlonal
volunteers to assist with our projects. We will also explore any grants that may be available to a￿15t wlth our projects
and other work.
Trustees - The board of Trustees have consented to request by two members to resign as trustees due to thelr
advancin8 years and health. They are,111 Gwyndaf Williams and121 John Meredydd Barlow. Two members of the
Society have agreed to become trustees, they are111 our P￿Ident. John Dilvryn Williams and111 our webmaster, Pegi
Allsop.

I have completed the audit of the Gwynedd Famity History Society's accounts for the financial
year 1 ￿ January, 2023 to 318t December, 2023.
The audit has been carried out by scrulinising the financial details provided, bank statements,
income and expenditure accounts, the detailed excel data analysis and accompanying
invoices verfying the expenditure.
