## **The year 2024-2025**

The choir year 2024/2025 was uninterrupted by global or concrete related events, allowing us to concentrate on our 60[th] anniversary musical performances.

The anniversary celebrations started with a stunning concert in the iconic setting of Llandaff Cathedral, performing three contrasting yet complementary Marian works: Durante’s setting of the _Magnificat_ ), Colin Mawby’s _Ave Verum_ , and Poulenc’s _Litanies à la Vierge Noire_ . These were then followed by Mozart’s _Requiem_ . Thomas Blunt conducted.

In December we returned to St John the Baptist Church, Cardiff to perform an evening of Christmas carols. We were conducted by Stephen Wood and accompanied by Philip Aspden. A collection was taken for Parkinson’s UK Cymru.

On St David’s Day 2025 we presented music inspired by the works of William Shakespeare in St German’s Church, Adamsdown. Featuring pieces by George Shearing, Robert Pearsall, and Emma Lou Diemer, as well as Welsh composers Richard Elfyn Jones and Mansell Thomas. Thomas Blunt conducted.

In March we welcomed our new accompanist Catherine Milledge and said a fond farewell to Dai Thomas with a meal in Llandaff.

2025 provided an opportunity to return to touring. This time to Bourg-en-Bresse. 2 concerts were performed. The first in the Co-cathédrale included Duruflé’s Requiem. We were supported by a financial contribution from the local Organ Society for supporting their 2025 Mardis de l’orgue season. The conductor was Aaron Shilson with Philip Aspden again accompanying

Our 60th anniversary year concluded in June with a return to All Saints Church, Penarth. The programme was centred again on Durufle’s Requiem. We were conducted by Thomas Blunt, once more accompanied by Philip Aspden. After the concert there was a celebratory wine reception as we toasted our six decades of music.
