Objectives of the Charity

The slogan of the Lions Club is: Liberty, Intelligence, and Our Nation's Safety, and its motto is: We Serve.
The purposes of the Club shall be:
-
To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the people of the world; - To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship;
-
To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community;
-
To unite the members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding;
-
To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members;
-
- To encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours.
Trustees

THE SOUTHPORT LIONS CLUB CHARITY TRUST
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES- Continued.
Risk analysis
The Trustees have identified, as required, the major risks to which the Charity is exposed.
The Trustees consider that they have taken such action and put in place policies, procedures and controls which will mitigate the identified risks and assist in maintaining the future financial viability of the Charity.
Remuneration of Trustees
During the year none of the Trustees of the Charity received remuneration for the provision of their services to the Charity.
Transactions and financial position
The results for the year ended 30th June 2025 are shown on the appended pages. Accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis rather than an accruals basis, as permitted under the Charities Act 2011 relating to smaller charities.
Statement of Trustees’ responsibilities
The Trustees are required to prepare Financial Statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of its results for that period. In preparing those Financial Statements the Trustees are required to:
-
a. Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;
-
b. Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
c. Prepare the Financial Statements on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to assume that the Charity will continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy and at any time, the financial position of the Charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Reserves Policy
The Trustees aim to maintain a level of reserves that would enable the Charity to continue and be financially viable for a period of twelve months, if income streams were to diminish; This equates to approximately £40,000 to £60,000 depending on the level of donations paid out. Unrestricted Cash Reserves at the year end of £78,029. The Trustees will continue to monitor the reserves level.
Investment Policy
The Trustees are responsible for the investment of any surplus funds of the Charity. As such funds may be required for immediate use, the Trustees continue to review various interest bearing, instant access deposit accounts in which to place such monies.
