## **Hawkesbury Community Centre Trustees Annual Report 2021 Charity number 511926** ## **The Charities Work** The Hawkesbury Community Centre is run by a Management Committee of volunteers made up of local Councillors ,User groups and Residents of Buckley and is run under a Trust Deed, and not for profit. The Hawkesbury Community Centre is a meeting place in the Town of Buckley and is an indispensable facility. In total more than 12 groups use the facility on a weekly or monthly basis and even more private bookings and one off events are held on a regular basis. The facility serves a population of around 20,000 people. The groups that use the Centre include: Buckley Junior Football Club, Pre-School Playgroup, Slimming World, Dog Training Group, Big Stage Drama Group, , The Buckley Historical Society, Band Practice, Dance Group, Tae Kwando, Grace Church Group, Baby Ballet, and ad-hoc events e.g. such as private functions (Birthday Parties) and as a Polling Station for Local Elections, Assembly and General Elections. The Community Centre is available for all people in Buckley to hire and all classes are open for everyone to join in regardless of ability. ## **Where the Money comes from** The income for the Community Centre comes from renting the rooms out to different user groups at a minimally agreed cost set at each year’s AGM. For much of this financial year (2020-21) the community centre was forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic but received £24,000 from the business support grants from Welsh Government and some financial support from some user groups to ensure the Centre continues to stay open in the difficult times we are living in. ## **How the money has been spent in the past Year at Hawkesbury Community Centre** The money that has been spent in the last year has been on continuous maintenance of the building employing cleaners, Caretakers, energy costs. Expenditure during the 2020-21 financial year was less than planned due to the pandemic.
