## 1[ST] HILTON GUIDES ANNUAL REPORT 2025

Registered charity number 511805

Hilton Guides membership numbers fluctuated between 40 and 22 during the year owing to a youth club opening on the doorstep on the same night at the same time. Volunteers have reassessed their time and some are only attending every other week. As a result programme planning is challenging to ensure we have adult ratios covered for the relative activity. All our volunteers are DBS checked and undertake safeguarding training. We are always covered by a first response trained leader.

All unit members were invited to the Springbank camp and 17 attended. We did not camp during the Summer. A number of sleepovers were held and visits undertaken to Rollerworld, Tean Valley Meadow Nature Reserve, ice skating and maize maze.

Unit activities have included non contact boxing, world book day, Djembe drumming workshop, camp skills, pyrography, games and wellbeing activities. We continue to work on the Girlguiding programme within the Ethos of Guiding and Guides have gained badges along the way with one receiving her Gold award and another on the way, plus bronze and silver recipients.

Some of the older Guides are ready to move to Rangers and they meet in the same building every other week which aids transition. We continue to welcome Brownies from the two units in Hilton and are able to encompass those with special needs and others in care.

Having had good numbers for some time our financial situation is good and allows for lower numbers at the present time; whilst we wait for more Brownies to move up. Gift aid has been claimed and helps to cover the annual census payable to CHQ each year for insurance and administration of the overarching charity – The Guide Association.
