Opèra North's case, our award of standstill funding for th6 period c￿ntinUeS a cut in ￿31 ferrns that stretches baGk to
2015, and the threat this represents to the Group's prixluctivty is comFX)unded by the CLsrrenl decades-high rate of
inflation and c¢)ncomttarbt illL¥&ases in operab.ng ¢osts. We are ex￿Mety graleful howevw for the continued uplift of
creative tax relief ratas.
The year brought slgnfficant managerial changes lo the Company. atK)ve all the announcement in September of
"chard Mantle's retirement as General OirectorlCEO toward5 the end of2023 3fleT nearly three decades at the
helrn. His successor, Laura Canning. curtently Director of Artistic Adminislration at Garsington Opera, was
appointerl In Aprtl and will take up her post in December 2D23 on Richard's retirement. David Cg11ins departed in
